Janis' POV
It had been a crazy, but amazing night at my art show. I had gone with Damian and I had invited Caddie, but she couldn't come because her parents had made her go to a 'Thing in Madison'.
I had submitted a painting of me, Damian, and Caddie that I had painted a little while after Caddie had moved here. It had ended up winning first place and Damian could not stop congratulating me.
Some other kids from North Shore were there as well in order to support me so we talked for a while after the contest. I honestly couldn't wipe the smile off my face until I got the notifications on my phone. It literally went off like 60 different times.
I tried to ignore it, but after a while it got annoying so I checked it. They were all from Instagram and all of them said the something like 'Having the time of my life at Cady Heron's party' or 'You should be at Cady Heron's party right now! It's the best!'
I was suddenly very angry. Cady had ditched my art show to throw a party and lied about it saying she had to go somewhere with her parents. She even had the audacity not to invite Damian and I when we were supposedly her best friends.
I harshly whispered in Damian's ear, "Get over here now!", and I pulled him over by his shirt.
"Janis, what is it?" He asked.
"I'll show you on the jazzy, we're leaving!" I said and stalked off to the jazzy, Damian confusedly followed close behind.
Once we had left, Damian asked me, "Jan, what happened? What's going on?"
"You know how both of our phones went off 60 times?" I asked.
"Yeah, but it's probably useless." Damian said.
"No it's not. All of those notifications were Instagram posts of the party that Cady threw tonight!" I said.
"Party? But isn't she out of town with her parents?" Damian asked.
"She's supposed to be, at least that's what she said, but she lied! She ditched my art show to throw a party!" I screamed, on the verge of tears.
"Cady did that?" Damian asked.
"Yes!" I screamed.
"I don't wanna believe that Cady would do that. Let's drive by her house just to make sure," Damian said.
"Ok, if you say so," I said. About 5 minutes later, we reached Cady's neighborhood and as soon as we reached it, we could hear the sounds of the party.
"See, I told you!" I said.
"Oh, honey no! We are not putting up with that!" Damian said.
"Darn right, we're not!" I yelled, and Damian continued to drive the jazzy to Cady's house. Soon we got to her house and when we did Cady had just run outside and was chasing after Aaron Samuels who looked like he was leaving.
"Oh my God... oh no..." Cady said when she saw me and Damian.
"You dirty little liar..." I said, hopping off of the jazzy.
"Janis, I can explain-" Cady started.
"Explain what? How you're supposed to be out of town but 60 different people are posting pictures of your party?!?" I asked, my voice getting louder.
"You know I couldn't invite you! I have to act like I don't know you!"
"You are filled with lies!"
"Janis, I cannot stop this jazzy, you know I have a curfew!" Damian said, the jazzy still moving at full speed.
I rolled my eyes and continued, regardless of what Damian said, "This is your house! You could have invited whoever you want to! You could have, like, changed the way the world works! You just decided not to!"
"You would hate this party!" Cady scoffed.
"Why? Are you having an amazing time with your amazing friends?" I mocked.
"Janis! I can't spend every second with you! It's not my fault you're, like, in love with me or something!" Cady screamed. Then a horrible realization hit me, Just like Regina... Cady is Plastic!
"What?" I asked, absolutely shocked at her.
"Oh, no she did not!" Damian said, reversing the jazzy to come back to Cady and I.
"See? That's the thing with you Plastics! You think that everybody is in love with you, when actually everyone hates you!" I screamed.
"You made me like this! It was your idea for me to pretend to be Plastic!" Cady snapped.
"Ha! Buddy it's not pretend! You are as Plastic as they come! You think your crap don't stink! You think the rest of us are dumb! I hate Regina's Guts, but here's what you don't comprehend! At least she has the guts to not pretend to be my friend!" I went off at her.
Then I grabbed the painting from the jazzy and threw it at her, "Here, you can have this! You won a prize!". Then I turned to walk back to the jazzy.
Her looked seemed to soften and she looked hurt and guilty at the same time, "Janis..."
I turned back around abruptly, "No! Cady, it's fine! Really, it's fine! Go be fine!". My voice broke at the end, so I knew I was about to cry. I decided it would be best to just leave now so that Cady couldn't see that I was crying.
So, I got back on the jazzy, and as Damian and I drove off, Damian yelled back at Cady, "And I want my pink shirt!". Then the two of us drove off leaving a shocked, confused, hurt, and guilty Cady standing on the lawn.
After we were out of Cady's view, I began to cry into Damian's shoulder.
"Aw, JanJan, don't cry, you did the right thing," Damian said.
"I know, but the thing is Cady was right about one thing..." I said.
"What?" Damian asked.
"It is my fault. I convinced her to join the Plastics to spy on them, thus I caused her to end up Plastic in the first place..." I said.
"No, it's not your fault, Janis. You only did what anyone would have done if they were in your place. Regina ruined your reputation in eighth grade for no reason at all, except for the fact that she wanted to keep her popularity. Of course you wanted revenge. You may have made a few mistakes, but the only person in control of Cady's personality is Cady, so she turned Plastic all by herself," Damian said, putting an arm around me.
I hugged him, "Thanks Damian, you always know exactly what to say, and when to say it,"
"Anytime Jan," Damian said, "You wanna sleepover at my place tonight?"
"I'd love that,"
