The Ganga is an important river of India. It's immortality tells us stories about incidents that occurred thousands of years ago, incidents that are unbelievable, incidents that teaches us about the most complicated truths of life. Thousands of years ago, the holy Ganga had charmed the Kuru samrat of Hastinapur, Raja Shantanu. Hastinapur was known to be the greatest kingdom of that time and Maharaj Shantanu, the worthy king of Hastinapur ruled the kingdom with his excellent resourcefulness, intellect and bravery.
One day, Raja Shantanu met a beautiful lady on the banks of river Ganga and fell in love with her. He asked her to marry him. The lady with her beautiful magical eyes looked at Shantanu with interest and when he asked her identity, she revealed that she was the holy Ganga herself, roaming around within a mortal human body.
Raja Shantanu married her and took her to his palace. Some years later, they had a son. He was named Debabrata. Devi Ganga took her son with her to Kashi to make him a worthy man to rule the Hastinapur kingdom for he would be the successor of his father. She went to the greatest shastra guru of that time and made Debabrata an excellent warrior.
Raja Shantanu was upset to leave his son and wife but it was all done for good, for the good of Hastinapur, for the good of world.
