Robert ran up the stairs that were spiraling up to the top. As he kept running he heard footsteps approaching at a faster rate. Robert had a secret which if told to anyone or released to the world would be devastating. As he reached the top he saw that apart from jumping from this very building that he climbed he had no other option. He had to climb this building because he was cornered. He stood at the edge of the top looking down at the busy streets of London. The people were approaching and eventually they reached the top. He told them not to get closer. They denied. As they approached closer Langdon jumped. He was falling into the abyss.
Robert Langdon woke up from this terrible dream he visualized. He was sweating. He saw his alarm clock and it showed 9’o clock in the morning. He got up from his bed and walked towards his bathroom. He brushed his teeth and came out. It was 9:15 am time for his daily workout routine. He did 50 crunches, 30 pushups, 5 mins plank and 30 squats. It took 45 mins for him to complete his daily workout routine. Robert Langdon checked his phone and saw there were 5 missed calls from an unknown number. The person had called 7:30 in the morning. Langdon thought it might be an important caller.
He called the person. After 4-5 rings the person on the other line picked up the call. “Hello is this Professor Robert Langdon speaking” asked the receiver. The receiver was a female. From the accent Robert guessed that she might be Russian. “Yes certainly. I see that u tried to call me this morning at 7:30. May I know your purpose of calling” replied Langdon. “Well, there is an emergency. I would like you to read today’s New York Times. After reading the headline do call me back. Thank you” replied the receiver. With that the receiver hung up the phone. Robert was astonished. He opened his front door and found his daily New York Times newspaper lying on the floor. He picked it up and closed the main door. The headlines on the front page of New York Times newspaper was:-
“THE FAMOUS BUSINESS MAN MR. VICTOR ZOROSKI WAS FOUND DEAD THIS MORNING IN HIS OFFICE. THE OFFICIALS SAY THAT HE WAS MURDERED THIS MORNING”.
After reading the headline Robert redialed the number and waited for the receiver to pickup. The receiver picked up and asked “Did you read the headlines?”. “Yes, I did. Now may I know who is this calling?” replied Robert. “This is Natalya Ivanovich. I am the secretary of Mr. Victor Zoroski. I am sending you a fax” answered Natalya. Robert kept Natalya on hold. After 2 mins Langdon received a fax. When he saw the image he was stunned. ‘This can’t be it. This is impossible' thought Langdon. The body of Victor was lying in the supine position. The thing that was disturbing was the symbol etched on the person's chest The symbol was:-
Langdon recognized the symbol at once. He had kept Natalya on hold. He pressed the hold button and resumed the call.
“From where did u get my number” asked Langdon.
“I read your book on symbols. And at the back your contact number and address was given” replied Natalya.
“Well, this is impossible” said Robert.
“Do you happen to recognize this symbol Professor?” questioned Natalya.
“Yes of course I do” replied Langdon.
“What is it?” asked Natalya.
“This symbol is of the Secret Society called the Assassins. They are also called the Nizari Ismaili ”replied Langdon.
“Well then why did you say it is impossible Professor?” asked Natalya
“Because this society was shut down centuries ago” replied Langdon.
