"He looked at me from across the room and I felt as though time had stopped and it was just us."

Kairi's pov
Once I hung up the phone checked the time. 2:30am I wondered when the person on the phone would get here, I don't remember the last time we had someone rent out a room, especially for two weeks. That's a long time for someone to stay at a hotel. A part of me hoped it wasn't an old man. The person on the phone didn't sound old though, early twenties or a teenager. Not that it mattered but I guess it would be nice to make a friend. Or not, I'd probably scare them off. Nor did I deserve a friend.

I just hated being lonely most of the time considering school was out and I'd be helping my parents run the hotel all summer. I spun around in my chair checking my phone. I frowned seeing all my friends were at a pool party. I tapped through all their stories trying not to become upset at the situation. I never was popular, another reason I didn't get invited to parties and events but still, sometimes I wished someone cared enough to ask.

I set my phone face down at the front desk, standing up from my chair. I didn't really worry about leaving the front desk unobserved, not like anyone would be walking through the doors. I stared at my dirty white converse that had turned into a light grey, until I eventually stopped at the soda machine. I pulled out three quarters slipping them into the soda machine slot, clicking the option of a doctor pepper. I grabbed the cold soda looking over at the front desk then back at the elevator at the other end of the large lobby.

I disregarded the thought of my father finding out I wasn't managing the front desk and the consequences I would receive. If wouldn't happen. Plus security cameras were placed along the lobby that I could access through an app on my phone. My father made sure to install it solely for that purpose.

I slowly walked to the other end of the large red carpeted lobby to the small single elevator that was placed dead smack in the middle of the wall. I clicked the only button that lead to the top floors, holding my ice cold soda in my other hand. Once I got into the elevator I clicked the button to the third floor out of the five the hotel had. It was quiet big which I liked, sometimes is wandered around just for the sake of being bored and having nothing else to do. There are at least eighty to one hundred rooms all together and I've probably explored each and everyone. It wasn't that bad but I'd much rather be spending my summer with friends and having fun than exploring boring hotel rooms by myself until I was bored again.

The elevator let out a small ding indicating I arrived at the third floor. I skimmed my eyes along the beige hall and matching red carpet. Sticking out my hand, running it along the wall until I stopped at room fourteen. I pulled out my card, pushing it into the old metal slot. I watched as the light on the lock turned a light green before pushing the door open. I disregarded my key to the side table as I plopped on my back into my bed.

The day my dad bought the hotel when I was thirteen he let me pick a room on any floor that I could have to myself during the summer. I ended up picking a random one which happened to be on the third floor. It wasn't that hard to choose since all the rooms in the hotel were the same size but I somehow managed to make it feel like more. The first week I immediately got room decorations that my relatives had given to my mom that she kept in the basement in our house back in Little Falls. When everything was simple.

I decided on keeping the walls white, not wanting to be a burden to my father and ask him for a color change. Instead I hung up old Polaroids of my family above my black bed frame. Along with records beside them. The other side of the wall had my desk which held my plants and books as well as my arts and crafts supplies. My bed was small but was black in the corner of my room with white fluffy blankets and pillows that were more aesthetically pleasing. It wasn't much but I loved how my room looked, it wasn't over the top but at the same time it was cute. It was the one thing I was in control of.

I furrowed my eyebrows as my phone buzzed from beside me. I picked it up to see a notification from the security camera app. My heart plumaged realizing the person who had called earlier was finally here. I didn't realize a couple hours had already pasted as I saw it was already 4am.

I swallowed nervously as I rushed down the hallway to the elevator and back down to the lobby. Once it dinged I drifted my eyes to the tall figure that was patiently waiting at the front desk, tapping his hands against the marble. He hadn't realized I had come down so I couldn't see his face but he looked intimidating just by his large height.

"I'm sorry" I called out rushing over behind the desk. I huffed out finally looking up at the unknown quest. I felt my breath hitch in my throat as I got a good look at him. He was gorgeous. I ran my eyes along his lean figure that was covered in a simple short sleeve black t-shirt and black sweats. A gold chain rested around his neck exposing his olive skin. I let my eyes finally rest on his face, taking in his dark features. He had dark brown fluffy hair that was in a messy part and dark brown eyes. I took notice to his nose piercing and slit eyebrow that stood out to the rest of his dominant features.

"You're good." He said monotone looking at me dead in the eyes with no emotion whatsoever. I slightly flinched being caught off guard to his deep voice. I nervously looked away from him, finding a room for him to stay. I could feel my heart beating out of my chest, feeling his intense gaze on me. I had never felt more intimidated in my life. I took a deep breath hoping he wouldn't notice as I handed him a key to the first floor. He took it from me, still staring at me as he did so. I felt like fainting. He was way too attractive to even be looking at someone like me.

"Um your room is number eleven on t-the first f-floor." I said tripping over my words. I felt the blood rush to my cheeks as I mentally cursed myself for embarrassing myself so badly. He didn't seem to care or take notice as he simply nodded his head not giving me another thought of mind. I watched as he turned away walking towards the elevator with his backpack slung across his back along with the other matching one in his hand.

"Oh my fuck." I mumbled to myself taking a seat on the spinning chair behind the front desk. I rand my hands against my face feeling how flustered and hot I was. I sighed swallowing my nerves. He was far too attractive to be staying at a hotel like this not to mention he looked rich. I felt like dying remembering he'd booked a room for two weeks.
