I walked up the magnificent staircase that led to the grand cathedral. My heart pounded in my chest. After years and years of searching, I was finally going to meet my parents. My real birth parents which I had never met before. They had finally made themselves known to me, after twenty two long years of not knowing who I really belonged to. And now, I would finally get answers to all of my questions.
The place that they chose to meet in was a little odd, but I eagerly agreed. I gently pushed the doors opened and walked inside. As soon as I walked in a couple rushed over to me and studied my every move intently. I hesitantly asked "Are you, Jonathan, and Betty Sanders?" The woman stepped forward. "Is that, a-are you, Samantha?" She whispered. I watched as she carefully walked towards me.
"Are you my baby?" I pulled her into a hug, and with tears in my eyes I said, "Yes, yes I am!" We hugged for what seemed like years, before I pulled away and turned to who I assumed was my father. He awkwardly stood there waiting for me to say something. "I'm so happy to finally meet you." I said. "Yes, but we must go now." He replied. "So you're just leaving me now?" I asked.
"You can most definitely come with us, but we must leave now." He replied. "Ok, you're acting like we're gonna die if we don't leave right this second." I joked. He grimly replied,"Thats exactly what's going to happen. So we must leave, come quickly!" He walked out the doors and beckoned for us to follow. I took my mother's hand, and we swiftly made our way outside.
At the end of the staircase there was a taxi waiting for us. "Who or what are we running from?" I asked. My father answered, "Pray you never find out."
