"Delilah! Wake up!"
*beep beep beep beep*
"I'm up!!" i scratch my eyes to check on the time, 7:40. I immediately ran downstairs, it's my first day of school. Mixed emotions, heart racing. What a day.
"Before you head out get me the paper." Mom says as she sits down to drink her coffee and smoke. "Yes mam..." I tell her as i head out and bend to pick up the paper the little newspaper boy was throwing out today. I look back up and noticed a someone looking back at me. That person was too blurry for me since my glasses was inside, but they wouldn't cut the stare. Swear to God that's not love at first sight. They waved his or her hand and all I did was turn my back and walk out. Rules are rules. I quietly close my door and see mom's coffee mug empty. "You slow-ass, give me that!" She said as she pulls the paper off my hands. "Coffee is finished, brew me some more!"
"Mom the bus comes in-" she slams her fist to the table. "Quit your yapping and get me the coffee! It's your first day, they can't blame ya for still adjusting to time." Yeah. Right. I nod and walk quickly to the kitchen to give my mom the coffee and she sips away as she inhales the gray dusty air and blows it out to her paper. Flip, inhaaaale, sip.. flip, exhaaaaale, sip..
"What're you still here for?? GET DRESSED!!" I flinched and nod. I ran upstairs and wore my sweatpants and put on an oversized sweater. I pull my hair up on a ponytail and pinned some standing hair up. Gosh I'm messy. I took my glasses and walked downstairs and as I was about to get my lunch, the bus came and my mom shouted for me to enter the bus. I ran and once I got in, people didn't seem to actually notice that I was there. They all kept laughing and had their own lives. So I helped myself at the very back seat. I took my earphones and blasted music in my ears to shut out all the outside noise that made my head itch. The bus still didn't move and I saw the same person from awhile ago head up the bus. It's a girl. She looked around and looked my way. There she goes again with the stare. I look away and she walks closer to sit next to me. "This seat taken?" She whispered. I point at my ears to show her i really don't care and that i barely heard her. She wasn't hesitant and immediately pulled out one of the chords. "Can I sit here?" She said. "Yes. Help yourself." I told her as I put the earphone back at my ear.
"You look familiar,," she says as she chews her gum. Oversized shirt with sweatpants. Her hair up in a messy bun, and she's got some hair falling off from her cheeks. That's right, I feel like this is another rainbow-ling. I whisper to myself. She feels fishy. "Never seen you before in my life." "Yeah you did, you looked up and stared back." She says with a smile on. "Ashton. But people call me Ash. You are?"
"Delilah."
