Sun ruled over the land of Gold, where naught but happiness laid. He had never known there to be any other emotion. It was never dark, and none were ever tired. The creatures of Gold were called lumens, delightful little creatures that flitted around the land, spreading happiness. All was well in Gold.
Sun lived in a beautiful palace that shone and gleamed, filling his days by tending to his garden of beautiful flowers, called Starseeds. He was content, but always felt deep inside that there was some part of him missing, although he never knew what it was. So he spent his life, tending his flowers until one day, he felt a stirring within him. An unexplainable desire to see what laid beyond Gold.
Sun resisted his desire as much as he could, allowing only feelings of content to consume him. But the desire grew, until at last he could no longer restrain it, and ventured out to the farthest reaches of Gold, until he saw the Black. The Black stretched for a distance, seeming to be endless, but for a sliver of something he'd never seen before, and the sharp glint of a pale cold light shining at him across the expanse. He drew forward until he was at the very edge of Gold, so that if he but took one step more, he'd be in the Black. He stopped, staring at the pale glimmer and feeling for the first time in his life, fear and anticipation, both emotions that had previously been unknown to him. Slowly, he took one step, into the Black.
