"Three days ago, a school van carrying all the Karsuno's boys volleyball team crashed up in the mountains of Tokyo. They were going to be playing a practice game against Fukurōdani Academy. Witnesses report the van was driving normally until it swerved off the street to avoid hitting some sort of black bird and ended up rolling down the mountain. Police and medics arrived at the scene 14 minutes later, only to find the coach and club advisor unconscious in the van. No one knows where the 12 boys and 2 managers are. If you have any information, please call-"

I blocked out the tv after hearing that and couldn't help wonder about where they were.

It's been 3 days. . . I hope they are okay.

It was Monday morning and I had to get ready for school, so I went upstairs and into my room. I put on my school uniform, which consisted of a white collard shirt, a gray skirt that stopped a few inches above my knees, black knee length socks, and a blue ribbon with white, thin stripes.

Going back down the stairs, I heard birds chirping outside. I took a look out the window in my living room and saw 5 little crows playing in my garden. Turning back around, I grabbed the remote and turned off the tv that was still playing news about the missing team. I went to the kitchen and grabbed 2 rice balls for breakfast.

I wonder if those little birds were hungry. I should go see if I have any bird seeds. But what if they aren't hungry. Then I will have wasted it for nothing. Maybe I should- No. Stop. I need to go to school.

I put the lunch I made last night in my bag, slung it over my shoulder, and slipped my shoes on. I yelled a goodbye to my mom, who was sleeping upstairs, and walked out our front door.

I heard more chirping and looked for the little crows I saw earlier. Now there were 14 of them. They were watching me.

Why are they just sitting there...in a line. Oh no. I should have gotten them food.

I looked at my wristwatch and saw I had 20 minutes before school started. I could make it in time. I quickly ran back inside and went into our storage room. After I found the birdseeds, I bolted back out the door and locked it. I was running out of time. I always had to leave my house at least 15 minutes before school started to ensure I wasn't late.

I grabbed a handful of seeds and put it in a pile right near to me. I put the bag down on the ground too and looked back at my watch to see school started in 16 minutes. I sighed in relief and took off, turning around one last time to see the little crows bouncing towards the food.

I arrived at Fukurōdani 2 minutes before the bell rang and did a very fast-paced walk to class 2-5 since we were technically not allowed to run in the halls. After calmly walking into my class, I took my seat next to my childhood friend, Rini, who was currently talking to one of our classmates about the Karasuno accident.

"Hey, Kairi! Did you hear about the accident? I can't believe the whole team is missing! Oh! And their managers, I hope they are okay. They seem like sweet girls. I saw one of the pictures on the news and she was truly a goddess!" Rini spoke with admiration while taking out her pencil case and notebook.

"Uh, yeah, I saw it on the news this morning." I answered back quickly, my voice sounding shaky from all the running I did to get to school on time."It's really a shame that happened to them. Considering we were going to crush them during the practice match." I took my favorite pencil out of a blue pencil case covered in cherry blossoms.

"That's so true, Kairi. We would have crushed them. I hope th-" she responded while getting cut off by the bell.

All the students who weren't in their seats quickly sat in them just as one our teacher came in. She was middle-aged, had square glasses, and taught us math. I always thought learning math in the morning was difficult because my brain still isn't fully awake yet. If our school system was smart, math and science should be later during the day. My favorite class was English. I found it exciting to learn new languages.

"Alright class. Today we will be reviewing what we learned on Friday. We have a test on Wednesday covering sections. . ." I zoned out after listening to Nakamura Sensei. Math honestly sucks. I got to work on the review assignment she gave us.

-

It was finally lunch after taking 4 classes. I took out my bento and Rini and I sat with our group of friends in our class. As I ate, all they talked about was the missing team. I found my mind drifting to the little crows in my garden this morning.

They were so cute. Even though I only had a few looks at them, you could tell each of them apart. I did notice one had a little blond tuff on top of it's head. One of them seemed to be more blonde and another was almost a gray, silver color.

" . . . Yeah . . . Mhmm . . . There were 14 of them missing . . . Yeah . . . I'm pretty sure it was in the woods near Kairi's house . . . They should totally do that . . ." My friends voices faded in and out as I thought of the little crows.

Wait. MY HOUSE! 14 OF THEM!?

"Um did you guys say my house? The crash happened near my house?"

"Were you not listening to us? Gosh, Kairi, you dummy! Do you have wax in your ears?! Yes, the crash was near your house!" Said Emica while sticking her tongue out at me. I knew she was messing with me, but I went along with it anyways.

"I'm sorry. What was that? I couldn't hear you correctly. Do you say something about taxes in your years?" I said smiling at her. Of course, I knew she said wax but oh well.

"You think you're so funny Kairi when you're really not. But next time you should just pay attention to the conversation. What were you even thinking about while we were talking?"

I debated telling them about the 14 new baby crows at my house, but if I did what would happen? I also did not want to lie to my friends, so I told them, "I was thinking about birds." I mean it wasn't a complete lie.

The bell rang and lunch ended, leaving me to go to physical education.

-

School ended and it was raining outside.

"Shoot" I murmured under my breath. I totally forgot to check the weather this morning and I don't have my umbrella. I started walking home anyways. Today was a rough Monday.
