Today was the day.The day that Thomas Shelby filed for divorce from Lizzie Shelby.
Lizzie was sat at the dining room table when Thomas entered and slammed the papers down on the table so harshly that the sound echoed throughout the room and back again.
"What are these?" Lizzie was none the wiser to what was going on. She thought that everything was normal between them.
"Paper work." She looked up at him with pure confusion glazed over her eyes. "Divorce papers. You need to sign them."
"Is this a joke?" Her question was laced through half hearted chuckles.
Lizzie was laughing but she had a feeling that this wasn't any old prank that her husband was playing on her and her heart began to slowly sink as the realisation of what was happening finally began to wash over her.
"Am I laughing?" He wasn't. His face was as stiff and emotionless as it always was. "Sign them."
"What if I don't want to? We have to talk about this, Tommy."
"Then let's talk. I'll start." Thomas sat on the table instead of on one of the chairs which only proved how uninterested he was in talking this over with her. "I want a divorce. I know you're back to your old ways, Lizzie. I know that you drink more than you usually do -a lot more- and you're on the snow again when you stopped once you fell pregnant with Ruby. I don't want anything to do with that. Not to mention the fact that you tried to have one of my fr-employees murdered because of your own jealousy."
"I thought we were over that, Tom. I thought we were fine again."
The fact that Lizzie had completely ignored everything he had said and only focused on the fact that she had hired Gina to murder Lucille spoke volumes for Thomas about her and what type of woman she was becoming.
"Your true colours are shining a lot brighter these days, Lizzie. Sign the papers."
"But what about my job? I still work for you remember."
"You can keep your job and if you don't want it then I'll give you money as long as you use it to sort yourself out. You can decide what to do."
"I want to keep my job." Thomas nodded his head approvingly. "Do you want me to sign these now?"
Then it hit him; she didn't ask about the kids. She doesn't care even the tiniest bit to ask if she will see their kids or not.
"Now." He spat, feeling the anger bubble inside of him at her selfish question. "I should let you know that you won't be seeing the kids either. It's in the paperwork; I'm having full custody of Charlie and Ruby."
Tommy watched her every move as she signed the divorce papers, analysing her and taking her in one last time before he would leave their home with the kids and let her pack her things and leave.
