Rae's POV

I've now been at Liverpool a few months. I've settled in and gotten to know all the players really well. In particular, I was really close friends with Trent. Virgil was like a brother to me and Mo was like my best friend.

Jordan is currently away on holiday as it's the off season. I'd been hanging with Trent the most. I honestly started with the intentions of being best friends, but I've started to really like him. At present,
I'm doing my best to ignore it. Only Virgil knows and he does his absolute damned best to tease me about it.

With all that being said, I had the curtains and blinds shut and we were getting ready to go to bed. I was just watching one last episode and was almost dropping to sleep, when Marley sits up and starts growling. He also barks a few times, which is incredibly out of character.
"Baby, lie down." I smile, trying to reassure him everything was alright. But, in a few minutes, it really, really wasn't.

Suddenly, I hear a loud smash and a huge brick comes flying through the living room doors that lead out to the garden. I jumped out of my skin, but Marley stayed rooted to the spot. I hear another loud smash, before I got up and rushed into the kitchen. I ensure Marley is with me and I lock the doors, before pushing some of the free standing cupboards in front of the doors. I hear what I think is them running away.

By the time the police had got here, I was a mess. I couldn't stop crying Marley was sat by me, as anxious as I was.
"Is there anyone you can call?" The police officer asks me.
"My brothers away on holiday and I don't have contact with my parents."
"Any friends? I really don't think you should stay here tonight."
"I can try my friend..."

I call Trent, not knowing who else to call.
"Rae?" Before I can even say anything, I just start crying.
"I'll be five minutes." He says and hangs up.
"We'll stay here with you till he gets here. We'll contact you tomorrow about a statement and everything. If you need anything in the mean time, contact the number on this card."

I nod, taking the card and I'm unable to say anything. I hear the gravel on the driveway so I knew Trent was finally here. Given the heavy police presence that surrounded my house - it didn't look good.
I was still sat, with my arms around myself and Marley stood right by me. The police left when I explained who Trent was and that I was safe.

"Rae, what the hell happened?" He asks, sitting in front of me.
"We were sat watching some show... I was getting ready to go to bed and they threw a brick through the living room doors and through one of the bedroom windows.." I replied, my voice barely audible.
"Did they hurt you?" He asks, his body language changing almost instantly.
"No, I got to the kitchen and locked us in but they ran off."
"Do you know who it was?"
"I think it was people paid by my ex."
"Do you want me to stay with you? Or you can stay at mine?"
"Can you stay here?" I ask him and he nods. "I have some stuff from my brand that you could probably wear.."
"Free promo?" He says and we both laugh. "Are you sure they didn't hurt you or anything?" He helps me to stand up.
"Yeah. The bricks landed just before the tv and I got of the kitchen and locked us in when the second brick hit the bedroom."

By the time we arrived at training the following morning, I'd hardly slept. Marley sat right by me, all night. We shared the same room, I was too scared to be on my own. I still hadn't told Jordan, he'd have been on the first flight home. He needs this break.

I walked in, Marley right behind me. I contacted Jurgen, explained what happened and he instantly gave me the green light to bring him. He insisted me bring him whenever I needed to. Trent was in front of me.

"I'm gonna go do some work. Thank you again.." I tell him quietly.
"If you need me tonight, just let me know and I'll come over yeah?"
"I'd appreciate if you did." I smile. "I'll order us food."

As Rae headed into her office to attempt to get through the mountain of work, Trent sat with his team mates.

"So you finally came clean to each other?" Virgil asks, almost breathing a sigh of relief.
"What?" Trent replies, turning to him.
"Oh no..." Virgil facepalms. "I thought you turning up together, meant you finally admitted you liked each other to each other."
"She likes me?"
"Boy are you stupid?" Mo interrupts, slapping Trent across the back of the head. "She's head over heels for you. She just doesn't know it's that bad yet."
"Anyways." Trent says, changing the subject. "I stayed with her last night. Some people threw bricks through her living room doors and one through the bedroom."
"Is she alright? Did they hurt her?" Mo asks, turning all protective over her like they all do.
"She's fine. She locked her and Marley in the kitchen till the police got there."
"Is that why Marley's here today?" Ox asks, joining the conversation.
"Basically. Her anxiety's through the roof and he's practically her service animal."

Rae's POV

The lack of sleep was really taking its toll. I couldn't concentrate. I knew as much to give the boys their instructions but after that it was just a blur. I heard a loud crash and I turned and saw glass all over the floor.  One of the strikers had put the ball through an office window.

"Jurgen.. can I take a minute?" I ask, already shaking.
"Of course." He replied, before returning his attention to the boys for their first upcoming fixture.

I sit with Marley trying to regain my focus. I knew this was now going to be a huge problem. Fortunately, I did have the guys and Marley if I needed to lean on anyone. Even with the game coming up, I was stupidly nervous. I work with the defenders mainly. The gender inequality is still in the game, what if I get the main blame if we lose? What if the fans take an instant dislike to me? At least the games at Anfield. Getting over the fear of starting at Liverpool was nothing compared the nerves of the upcoming game.
