You awoke in the middle of the night, cloaked in darkness, drenched in a sticky hot sweat, your husbands tshirt clinging to your body, sticky and uncomfortable too. You were out of breath, shaking and the start you had woken with had been enough to wake Johnny who until moments ago had been sleeping soundly with his back turned on you.

"Mmm's the matter love?" he mumbled rolling slowly, sleepy, still half asleep and peaceful as he draped his arm around you and tried to pull you into his embrace.

Your heart was racing, your whole body overcome with that horrid skin crawling nervousness that a nightmare has the tendency to leave you riddled with but as Johnny nuzzled into your side and murmured into your neck you felt yourself relax just enough to let out a shakey little sigh.

"Bad dream," you whispered, unable to hold back the small smile which crept onto your lips when you felt his kiss on your shoulder. His leg draped over yours as he shifted between the shifts to get as close to you as he could.

"Again?" he yawned, his arms around you squeezing you closer into his chest, "cmere darlin," he mumbled painting another small smile on your lips, not entirely sure where you were meant to go, as you leant back into his embrace, let him push another warm, lethargic kiss to your skin. "You wanna tell me about it?" he asked still only really half awake but you liked him when he was like that. His hazy, daydreamy nature, the way he moved slow and sleepy, unphased by everything, calmed you, soothed your nerves. Left you sighing as you rolled over and nuzzled into him.

"It was about you an the girls," you whispered as he kissed your forehead, looking up at him with big wide eyes which left him smiling soft and sympathetic, about to kiss you again when a noise from the next room made you jump.

You gasped, bit your lip, rigid, gripping Johnny tshirt in a fist. But John just laughed, a fond soft sort of laugh as he pulled you up into his side, pushing himself up slowly.

"Relax darlin," he chuckled his fingers tangled in your hair as he cradled your head to his chest and kissed your forhead one last time before he let out a sigh, let the duvet slip from him as he sat up and shuffled to the end of the bed. "Mm'startin to think you an the little lady are a bit too alike," he smiled at you, stretching as he wandered to the bedroom door, following the sound of the little voice that was calling for him from the next room.

You watched him leave, your own heart still beating a little erratically, suddenly feeling very alone in the dark, your fingers hesitant to reach for the lamp switch. Almost jumping out of your skin when your eyes rested on a tiny shadow in the doorway.

You gasped again but a smile broke out too when you saw your other little girl standing all of 3ft 4 in the doorway, her blanket trailing behind her, her big blue eyes wide and a little teary as she spied the empty space in the bed beside you.

"Whats wrong sweetie?" you asked softly, pushing the covers away from you, holding your hand out to her to coax her into the room.

"Loud," she simpered glancing at the window where another flash of lighting had her hiding behind her blanket, "giving me bad dreams," she shook her head as you moved to slip from the bed to bundle her up in your arms, let her climb into bed with you.
"Wheres daddy?" she whispered, pointing to the empty space beside you.

And you were about to tell her but a shadow in the doorway with his finger to his lips, with your other little girl in his arms, her tiny little finger pushed to her lips too as he crouched down slowly, quietly behind your eldest.

"Boo," he whispered in her ear, soft and gentle with a cheeky smile on his lips but it was enough to send her jumping out of her skin, running and scrambling up onto the bed and into your arms, hiding under her blanket as you gasped, trying to hold back your giggle, as Johnny and your youngest daughter giggled together, all her fears melted by another of his daft jokes.

"John!" you cried, throwing your arms around your little girl who was clinging to your too big tshirt, hugging you tightly, "How could you," you giggled, "he's a silly daddy isnt he," you said lighting her up, penguin kissing her, pretending to have an idea, gasping again, whispering in her ear, "I know, shall we get him back? Shall we get revenge?" you asked her and when she nodded you bit your lip and picked up your pillow and when he tried to come back to bed, your little 3 year old giggling into his neck, you let your eldest throw your pillow at him, skrieking with laughter when he tried to hide away behind you and you wouldn't let him, the four of you scrambling around trying to escape one another's stupid little attacks.

"Daddy no!" giggled your eldest as your baby girl crawled into your arms and Johnny snatched at your other little darlings ankles, pulling her towards him, threatening to tickle her, tickling her toes first, tickling her tummy when he caught her, until she was giggling and begging her mummy to rescue her.

"Its okay baby come here come here, mummy will protect you," you giggled holding both your babies in your arms, letting them hide under your shirt, pretending like they were invisible.

"What makes you think you're safe?" smirked Johnny, crawling slowly up the bed towards you, trying his best not to smile, wicked glint in his eyes when he saw the grin on your lips as you giggled, backing into the headboard, holding onto the two fidgeting little girls stretching your top out of shape.

"You wouldn't dare..." you giggled, knowing that he would, "Johnny," you giggled, feeling daft and little girlish, as he grabbed your feet, threatening you, laughing when you shook your head, biting back your giggling.

"Now now mrs Bond, i believe youre harbouring two little rascals..." he hummed, teasing grin as he hovered over you. His eyes lit up, sparkling with gleeful mischief.

"I don't know what you mean... I only know two little angels..." you giggled, biting down your bottom lip as he lowered himself, his hand sneaking up your shirt to try and grab one of your little girls hands or feet. Stirring another shriek and another giggle.

"See now I know youre lying," he smirked, "now i know you're definitely lying to me love..."

"Id never..." you gasped, eyes wide and offended as he simmered and settled and fell down beside you, coaxing your eldest from out of her hiding place, guiding her into his arms to lie down and settle on his chest as he closed his eyes and side dramatically.

"Theres three angels in here, not two," he looked up at you as you settled two, smiling wide when your youngest wriggled and popped her head through the over stretched neck of your tshirt.

You lay down on your side, closed your eyes and let out of a soft smile as Johnny let his arm drop, splayed out across the mattress. You lay down, rolled into his side, your head on his shoulder as he wrapped his arm around you, his fingers in your hair as he pulled you closer and placed a kiss to your forhead.

"Oh really?" you smiled softly, kissing his shoulder through the cotton of his tshirt.

"Mmm," he yawned reaching for the light before his hand returned to cradle your eldest little girls head. Her eyes had already fluttered shut, her lips slightly parted as she drifted back to sleep, "my three angels," he sighed before drifting back to sleep too.
