I woke up to see the glimmering stars, scattered all around the coal black night. I sat up and directly saw Mr. Crepsley who was setting up a fire and had the small cans that a woman called Evanna gave him a few years ago.

I stood up and yawned while I stretched, rubbing my eyes a little to hopefully take away the doziness in them. "Darren, I see you are finally awake." said Mr. Crepsley as he turned to me and I walked up. "I caught us some rabbit and took out the vegetables we had from before." he looked down at me again from the stuff he had put out. "I'll get going then." I said and he nodded once to then turn away and pack away other stuff.

I made us some stew and luckily Mr. Crepsley had put out enough for two, me and him. We ate everything and got the energy we needed to be able to walk the last miles to the Cirque Du Freak.

While Mr. Crepsley was packing the stuff we had taken out, I was staring up at the stars. I wondered how my family was...did they miss me? It would be obvious thinking that they did, they all cried at my funeral, even dad. Mum must of stopped making my favorite food, considering that it was the last meal I ate with my family.

Annie must of felt very lonely without me being there to pester or play. I really wished that I could of gone back, to be able to eat mum's incredible cooking, getting help from dad with my homework and playing or hang out with Annie.

I snapped out of my thoughts by Mr. Crepsley's hand gently on my shoulder. I turned around to see him smiling. And it wasn't like the small strained smiles he usually did, but a sincere and heartfelt looking one like he knew what I was thinking about. "Come now, Darren...we must hurry so our friends don't leave us behind even further." he said in a very silent and gentle voice. I nodded and picked up my suitcase and Madame Octa and started to walk.

The walk to the Cirque Du Freak was silent and all you could hear was Madame Octa shuffling around her cage and the whistle of the autumn wind. I started seeing bright colors afar, even if it was such a dark night. We then saw the tents and a very long cue forming outside of one the tents. We hurried into another one at the back and saw many rehearsing their acts.

"Darren!" Someone gasped and charged at me. I fell back with a small thud and when I opened my eyes I saw Evra Von, the snake boy. "Evra!" I yelled out with a big grin and I hugged him. He returned the hug and smile, then stood up and reached out his hand to me to help me up.

He waved at Mr. Crepsley with a welcoming smile and then looked back at me. "Where have you been? We all missed both of you very much. Without you here its pretty quiet, even if there is a lot of people here." He said looking around with his friendly smile. More of the circus actors came up and greeted us with welcoming handshakes and laughter, and we did the same.

Last but not least came Mr. Tall, as quick and swift as usual. "Hello, Hibernius." Said Mr. Crepsley, doing that thin smile he always did. "Hello Larten, and hello to you too, Darren." He said firmly but nicely as he looked down at me. "Hello Mr. tall, its nice to see you again." I said as I smiled at him. "Pleasure to see you, Darren. I hope your trip has gone well." I nodded as he finished his sentence.

"So how about getting ready for your act?" He said while turning back to Mr. Crepsley. "You saw all of the people out there, I hope. We can always use another act." He looked at the vampire curiously. "Well, I see why not." Mr. Crepsley said as he glanced down at me. "How about you go and ask Truska for anymore clothes. Your pirate gear is starting to get dirty and is a little destroyed." I looked down at myself as he said it. He was right, even for some time it looks pretty bad. I nodded and walked away to Truska's tent.
