(Jason)

I had actually kind of enjoyed my night with Karmen at first. Watching her struggle with the menu and do her happy food dance, was actually really adorable and the act that she put on with me was amazing, it almost felt natural and when she said Emily was my step mom I almost died of laughter, well I would have had my dad not given me the death stare. It wasn't until Emily mentioned our past that my mood turned sour.

"Jason?" I looked at Karmen to see what she wanted and she pointed at the valet. I nodded and took the keys from him and opened her door then went to my side to get in. I was still fuming so I planned on maybe taking her home and then driving some more until I cooled off.

" Are you okay?" She asked. I tried to shrug, but I could tell my face was still red and my hands were clutching the steering wheel so tightly my knuckles were turning white.

"Do you want to talk about it?" She asked me. I shook my head and pulled into the driveway and stopped to let her out.

"You're not coming in?" She asked, I shook my head, but instead of getting out she put her seat belt back on.

"What are you doing?" I asked her, she shrugged.

"You're not supposed to drive angry, you never know what's going to happen." Something about the look on her face made me stop what I was doing and decide to pull the car into the garage anyway. I don't know what it was about the face that she made, but something about it made me feel guilty if I left. I shrugged the feeling off and parked the car, whatever it was would pass. I thought back to the face she was making earlier before we left and the tears that had been in her eyes.

"Hey Karmen," She turned to look at me expectantly, she had been stretching. "Thanks for tonight." She smiled a big smile, causing my heart to do something I had only felt once before. I shook my head and pushed the feeling away.

"No prob-" I held up my hand.

"I was saying it out of courtesy, no need to feel touched." She looked taken aback but I shook that off too and went upstairs to my room. We only had to do this for a year, there was no way I was going to get attached for her to leave too.

(Karmen)

It must be his time of the month. I thought as Jason walked past me and inside the house. He waited for me to come inside before turning the garage light off and heading upstairs to his room. That boy was more confusing than anyone I had ever met. When I first met him of course you could tell he was a flirt. A tease, but now he was being so hot one minute, then cold the next. I tried to shrug it off. If I was going to be here for a year, the least we could do was be friends. Otherwise staying in this big house was going to be so lonely.

I was about to head upstairs when Lucinda the housekeeper called my name. I turned to see her standing in the kitchen doorway, her jacket and purse in hand. I smiled at her and walked over to see what she needed.

"Mr.Aldridge wanted me to give this to you." She dug into her apron and pulled out a credit card. I looked it over, it was one of those fancy ones you only ever see the richest of the rich holding. I could practically see the halo of light glinting off of it as the angels sang in the background. Before I could thank Ms.Lucinda, she grunted at me and left. Looks like Jason wasn't the only one that had an attitude problem. I shook my head and ran upstairs to my room and closed the door behind me. I only needed to last a year, I could do that.

I could not do it. I was lying peacefully in bed, snoozing away, for once I didn't have to be up or go anywhere, I had no obligations, I could do anything I wanted. I turned over in bed and snuggled deeper under the covers when there was a loud crash next door. I grabbed the other pillow and put it over my head, before trying to go back to sleep. Then there was another loud crash from next door. I sighed, was he torturing me on purpose. After everything I had done for him yesterday, the least he could do was let me sleep in. I tried one more time, to close my eyes and fall back into a deep sleep, when he started playing loud music. I screamed into my pillow.
