(Andy’s P.O.V)
“Andy get your ass down here, we’re gonna be late!” My dad yelled as I picked up my backpack and IPod and put on “Break” by Three Days Grace, I could hear the lyrics swimming through my ears, they were perfect for this situation….
BREAK away from everybody BREAK away from everything, if you can’t stand the way this place is, TAKE yourself to higher places…
I was being sent to an all-boys rehabilitation camp called ‘Camp Sunshine’; you know because that is what it’s gonna be like--yeah right. My parents are sending me here because I am gay (and proud of it) and I-I, well started cutting myself, but not all the time. I also like to write lyrics, and I think it is pretty good, for a 16 year old. But anyways I am walking to the car, before my parents freak out on me.
I got to the car as my parents were telling me that I better change or they will disown me for good. I shrugged it off and put my head phones in as “Freaking Me Out” by Simple Plan was blasting in my ears. I knew my mom and dad were talking to me about something, but they have already said enough, so I just ignored them.
The drive took about 2 hours, and we were in nowhere land. There has barley been any cars for the past hour, we drove through a forest, and saw some guys running along the side of the road, probably from the camp; and I might say…they were sexy. There was a boy who had brown hair and a very muscular body, and a really white smile, I mean like it was so white it hurt to look at in the sun. Then there was a slightly shorter guy with long black hair, jogging along the side of him in shorts and a sweat shirt. Then there were a couple more jogging behind them talking and laughing to each other – “ANDY!” my mom interjected and ruined my thoughts, “Stop looking at those boys, this is one of the reasons you’re in here.” Then my dad mumbled something along the lines of “Disgusting.”
When we arrived at the camp, it looked like a typical brochure summer camp. There were five really big cabins scattered around the camp. Across the way there was a showering house and a Mess Hall Across from that. Up a little hill there were activity houses and a counseling center. Many trees and a lake surrounded the camp. I think I might like it here.
