The date was April 27th, 2020. Kasha Itō was eating breakfast at home all by herself. You see, she lives in a little town about a half hour away from Negi Root City. And today is her birthday. The coronavirus has also hit the town she lives in. After she finished breakfast, she went back upstairs and turned on her computer. She was hoping to get a hold of her cousin Hanakotoba Fukuda [Hana-Kotoba]. After a couple of minutes setting up the video chat, she saw her cousin's face.

Hana-Kotoba: (in Japanese) Hey, Kash!

Kasha: (also in Japanese) Hi, Hana.

Hana-Kotoba: Happy birthday.

Kasha: Thanks so much.

Hana-Kotoba: Do you have to stay at home too because of the coronavirus?

Kasha: Oh yeah. It's more boring than usual.

Hana-Kotoba: But I have a little bit of good news. We might be out of quarantine this Friday.

Kasha: Might?

Hana-Kotoba: Well, they can still extend it.

Kasha: Okay. So, how are you doing over in Negi Root City?

Hana-Kotoba: It's a little boring over here, too. But I'm still doing schoolwork at home.

Kasha: That's good. Nothing's more important than getting an education.

Hana-Kotoba: But I still miss my friends, like Clarise [Chat Noir]. I still get in touch with them from time to time.

Kasha: Speaking of friends, can you try to get a hold of Ciel DuBlois for me?

Hana-Kotoba: Why?

Kasha: I want to see if he remembers my birthday.

Hana-Kotoba: I'm sure he will. But I'll do it.

After a couple of minutes, Ciel's face came on.

Ciel: Hi, Hana. And Kasha.

Kasha: Hey, Ciel. Do you remember who I am?

Ciel: You're pretty much one of the richest Mikus ever, aren't you?

Kasha: You got it.

Ciel: That must be cool, having so much money.

Kasha: Trust me, it'll get old really quick.

Ciel: How come?

Kasha: Back when I was in 4th grade, I had 2 friends. They keep asking me to give money for them for their own problems. When I got older, I've had enough and decided not to be friends with them anymore.

Hana-Kotoba: Now the only things she provides money are for medical reasons and charities.

Ciel: How much money do you have?

Kasha: Oh, millions. I bet I would spend months counting it all.

Hana-Kotoba: Say, Ciel. You were born in Japan, weren't you?

Ciel: Yes.

Kasha: What city were you from?

Ciel: Utashinai.

Kasha: Oh, that little city? I remember going there one time to provide money for a little charity.

Ciel: When did you come to Utashinai?

Kasha: Oh, I don't know. Maybe a few years ago.

Ciel: Then me and Soleil were still living there after our parents died.

Hana-Kotoba: How did you parents die?

Ciel: A car accident.

Kasha: Oh, I'm so sorry.

Hana-Kotoba: When did you and your sister move to Negi Root City?

Ciel: A couple of years ago. Our aunt couldn't take care of us anymore.

Kasha: But you were homeless for awhile, weren't you?

Ciel: Yes. But eventually we found a house that no one wanted to live in.

Kasha: And now you live with Angelica [Agitation] and Stephanie [Silent Voice].

Ciel: Yeah.

Hana-Kotoba: Do you miss Utashinai?

Ciel: Sometimes.

Kasha: Just remember that you have a new family now, Ciel.

Ciel: Thanks, Kasha.

And so, the 3 of them spent the next few minutes video chatting with each other until Ciel had to leave so that he could focus on his schoolwork. Kasha now knows a little more about her new friend.

And that's all I have. I'll see you guys in another story!
