*first day of work*

*buzz* *buzz*

I knocked my alarm off. I was hesitant to even go to work. I was filled with excitement because I got the job, but I wasn't sure if I was ready to face Mr. Bolvio again. My brain suddenly clicked.

"I might not even see him. Mr. Bolvio hides his face and seldom comes to my work department."

*Arissa jumps out of bed*

I caught a bus and had many minutes to spare. I arrived early to work with thirty minutes to spare. I entered the building and head over to my department. Who would've thought that Grace actually arrived early too. I approached her.

"Hey Grace, you're here early."

She looks at me from head to toe then spoke.

"I was actually the first one here."

The way that she said that was so arrogant. Honestly, no one cares if you were the first one here. But I just nodded my head.

"By the way, Arissa. What did Mr. Bolvio wanted to talk to you about? That day in his office? Are you trying to hit on him? Is that your true purpose for coming here?"

*Grace crosses her arms and tilts her neck*

What in the world? I was hoping to ignore Mr. Bolvio but who knew Grace was another Mr. Bolvio.

*Mr. Bolvio appeared silently behind Arissa without Arissa knowing*

"No, what are you talking about? Mr. Bolvio was...just...talking about my profile. He had some questions he wanted me to answer. Nothing else happened."

I have to say. I'm quite the liar.

*Grace looks behind Arissa and smiles*

"Good morning, Mr. Bolvio."

My face dropped. I slowly turned around. His stone face was the same as yesterday. He glances at me then puts his hands in his pocket barely acknowledging me.

"Good...morning, Mr. Bolvio."

I sounded so stupid, even though I said exactly what Grace said.

*Mr. Bolvio sighs*

"Mmh."

*walks to the office in the florist department*

Our manager, Mr. Lee was in charge of us and he made sure we got our job done. We worked with other florists that has been here for quite a long time. Grace has such a two face. Around the other florists, she acted like the sweetest angel, but I've seen her true side and I wondered why she showed it to me. I made a new friend, Corbyn. He is also a florist and I think that me being friends with him will come with lots of benefits, for example, he could give me tips, or show me around, and hopefully help me if I need it.

*lunch time*

"Corbyn, you want to head out for lunch? I'll treat."

"Sure. Let me grab my bag and I'll meet you downstairs."

*Arissa walks to the elevator*

*Arissa drops her wallet in front of a person walking by*

"My fault. I'll pick it up."

I look up to see the person and it was Mr. Bolvio. Why do I keep seeing this jerk everywhere I go? He gave me the most stoned face look and walked into the elevator as the the door opens. I watched him get in putting my wallet in my bag. I was going to get on the elevator as well, but I just stopped.

*Mr. Bolvio looks at Arissa*

"What's wrong? Too afraid to be in the same elevator as me?"

I scoffed. Why would I be afraid? I walked into the elevator and the doors closed. I stayed about three feet away from him.

*awkward silence*

*ring* *ring*

My phone just had to ring. I looked at who it was. It was my mom, I picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Arissa! Help!"

My mom rarely ever calls me, so when she asked me for help it had to be an emergency.

"Mom what's wrong?"

I started to panic and my voice got stern.

"Ari. Adam got admitted to the hospital. Can you come now? I need someone."

I can hear my mom sniffle.

"Adam got admitted to the hospital? What happened?"

I looked up and forgot that Mr. Bolvio can hear the conversation.

"Mom, I'm working right now. I can't just cut work. Maybe after I get off I'll come to the hospital."

I was getting ready to hang up but my mom has to make one last comment. With the silence in the elevator, my phone was the loudest noise without being on speaker.

"You foolish girl. Why must you work? We have money. Why don't you just come back and live with us. Adam is willing to accept you as his daughter. Come back so you won't suffer anymore. Your grandpa speaks non stop about you."

My mom spoke so fast, she was speaking in tongues. The elevator reached the bottom floor and the door opened.

"Mom I have to go. I'll see if I can come to the hospital to see Adam. Bye."

I hanged up. I was confident that Mr. Bolvio heard my conversation. He walked away like nothing happened, but who knows what he's thinking. I see Corbyn waving his hand at me as I came out of the elevator.

"Corbyn? How did you get here before I did?"

"I took the stairs. Believe or not, I actually walked and didn't run, but somehow made it before you. So you ready to go?"

"I don't believe you. But let's go. I know a really good cafe that serves the best lunches and best coffee."
