"We have to leave soon." Someone shouted through the strong wooden door to Josie's room.

"Just a minute!" Josie's panicked response seemed to satisfy whoever was on the other side of the door, or they didn't care and had left.

Due to the Saltzman twins lack of maids, Josie had previously had to spend the majority of her time helping Lizzie get ready. She didn't mind, that's mostly how it was at home. And besides, Josie was prepared to do anything she could to help her sister. Even if it meant sacrificing some important time she could use to get herself ready. All she had left to do was her hair, so she had sent her anxious sister on her way. As she put the last pin in to keep her hair up, Josie wondered if it was such a good idea to be alone. She didn't know what kinds of people would be participating in this... competition? Lizzie had called it that, they had even laughed about it on the way here. But the brunette didn't feel as brave as she did then. Just because these people were nobility, didn't mean they would not act dishonorably.

With one last glance in the mirror Josie nodded to herself, stepping out into the parlor. There were only two footman by the door, and a girl reading by the fireplace.

"Hurry along, you'll miss the festivities." The raven haired girl said sarcastically as she turned a page, staring at the words with a bored expression.

"Uh, aren't you coming too?" Josie questioned, confused by the girls lack of enthusiasm, or engagement in what was going on.

"Yeah yeah," She said with a wave of her hand. "I'm right behind you."

Josie shrugged and headed on downstairs. She wouldn't try to get someone to go downstairs if they didn't want to. Plus it wouldn't hurt the Saltzman's chance. Everybody does what they want; win win.

Thankfully the way to the grand hall was pretty straightforward, so she didn't get lost. By the time she entered the room it was full of all different types of people. Gorgeous woman in fancy gowns, with their hair in immaculate fashions. There were also men in smart blazers and suits. Some had gold embroidery or buttons, someone to Josie's right had out a golden pocket watch. Everyone in here was so grand looking, and there were quite a few people that caught the girls eye. Then her gaze fell on her sister, she was sitting closest to the throne on a far table. It looked like she had already made some friends.

"There you are." Lizzie said with relief as she approached. "I've had to fight three people away from your spot."

"Thank you." Josie chuckled, turning to look at a couple of people shooting them death glares. She sat down beside Lizzie.

"This is my sister, Josette. Josie, this is MG and Kaleb."

"Sir Kaleb Hawkins of Nosferatu. Its a pleasure." One of the dark skinned men said from the other side of the table. He had a charming grin as he extended a hand across the table. Where the Saltzman twins came from, men and woman didn't shake hands. Josie only hesitated for a moment though, grasping his hand firmly.

"MG was just telling us about the Mikaelson heir." Lizzie interrupted before the brunette could get a word in. "Apparently we're all in for quite the surprise."

"How so?" Josie inquired, picking up a shiny red apple from the fruit bowl in front of them.

"Firstly, the Mikaelson heir is a girl." MG elaborated. Josie's eyes widened in shock. She was not expecting that.

"At least we know it's not going to be some creepy prick." Lizzie said haughtily with a flourish of her hand. "Thank God."

"Just because it's a girl," Kaleb started. "Doesn't mean they can't be an asshole."
