Some of the muggle-borns have to know Lord of the rings so when they find out they are wizards/witches and they go to Hogwarts then see professor Dumbledore, an old man with a long white beard, they immediately think of Gandalf. And they have to say to themselves over and over that he isn't Gandalf. And one of them is called up to the sorting hat. All they can think of is, "the old guy's name is Dumbledore but he looks just like Gandalf! Does Dumbledore=Gandalf?" And the hat is confused, like who is Gandalf? Why is that the only thing in this kids mind? The hat has been quiet for 2 whole minutes untill he finally speaks, "who. Is. Gandalf?"
The great hall is silent and then the muggle-borns, the ones who know Lord of the rings, just start laughing and some point to Dumbledore, and the kid just gets red. Like OMG... The person got Hufflepuff.
