⠀⠀"Where are we going?"
⠀⠀My father swiftly glanced at us through the rear-view mirror before taking a sharp turn around a corner. The look on his face was quite difficult to decipher.
⠀⠀"Somewhere far, far away."
⠀⠀"Where's mommy?"
⠀⠀ The gunshots. I remember the gunshots.
⠀⠀"Hold onto your brother!"
⠀⠀I grabbed my brother's hand as we drove down a steep hill, ramming straight into these wired fences. The rocky road ahead had the car vibrate vigorously while my father did his best maintaining control of the vehicle.
⠀⠀⠀We finally reached smooth ground as he sighed, relieved that we finally got away from whatever that was after us. He turned his head to look at us.
⠀⠀"You guys al-"
⠀⠀"Daddy look out!"
⠀⠀⠀A black SUV had driven straight towards us on our left, causing the entire vehicle to flip over.
⠀⠀⠀I remember the screams, the blood, the broken glass—and then him.
⠀⠀⠀"My name is Gabriel."
