"Lan Zhan" he mock whispers my name whilst I am in the middle of teaching my class. He grins mischievously as he knows I won't respond to him but that does not stop him from being shameless. He bites his lips and even though I maintain a facade of calmness, right now all I can think about is taking him back to Jingshi and having my way with him.
"Hanguang-Jun!" Jingyi calls and my eyes seek his. He on the other hand grins and I knew we have been caught. I could hear Wei's laughter as I draw my attention back to the disciples in the room.
Dismissing the class for the day, Sizhui, Jingyi, OuYang and Jin Ling find me out side the main hall proceeding towards Library Pavilion when Wei intercepts our path "Lan Zhan" he drawls "I missed you" he's deliberately being a tease as he knows the kids would be embarrassed.
"Senior Wei" Jingyi shakes his head "why do you harass Hanguang-Jun during his lectures?" at that Wei laughs and locks his arms around Jingyi's neck "Kid, I have always troubled your Hanguang-Jun during lecture hours. It's nothing new and he's used to it" Wei laughs at the memory as he turns to me "remember how angry you were when I used the paperman on Elder Lan?" he laughs and I smile.
How could I ever forget? I was so scared for him back then.
"I am not a kid!" Jingyi retorts "I am man!" and Wei whistles "Oh yes, you are. Lan Zhan shall we get him married soon? How about next month?" though Wei was joking his tone was serious and Jingyi sputters "Wha...at?".
"Yes yes. You're the man. Shall we find a bride or" he grins "a groom?" Wei raises his eyebrows instigating Jingyi and as expected he moves away from Wei's clutches and hides behind Sizhui "Don't you dare come near me! Hanguang-Jun, please save me". I look at all of them and with a sigh I turn away "If you provoke him, be ready to face the consequences" saying that I walk away when I hear heaps of laughter and a lone wail.
"Hanguang-Jun" a distort Lan Peng seeks my help "could you please come with me? It's my infant child! She's under distress and nothing seems to be calming her" I nod and follow him to his humble abode.
I am surprised to see uncle and brother with few of the Elders being present and playing their instruments to calm the crying child but nothing seems to work.
"Hanguang-Jun" Lady Peng bows with tears in her eyes "my child is has been unwell for past few days. The medical practitioners have already provided her with requisite medicines but that hasn't brought down her fever. ZewuJun and Elder Lan have tried their best but everything seems to be in vain.
Assessing the situation I carefully gauge my brother's reaction and his eyes are in deep despair. Summoning Wangji I play the song of Calm to lift up her aura but when that does not work, everyone has truly become concerned.
"What should we do Hanguang-Jun?" Lan Peng clutches his child and tears streak down his cheeks and whereas his wife is inconsolable.
"Can I help?" We all turn to look at Wei standing at the threshold of the house sporting a warm and a kind smile and the couple invite him in. The expression of the other Elders are hostile and this does not go unnoticed by me.
Walking upto the infant he bows and seeks the permission of her parents "May I?".
Perplexed they nod but he doesn't take the infant in his arms, rather places a palm on her forehead and closes his eyes. The serene look on his face has my brother turning towards me but my eyes are for the man who has my heart. With a slight smile he moves few steps back and taking out his Chenqing, placing it under his lips he plays his melody.
