Ava stood, stunned, with her mouth hanging open wide. Here was her best friend, who had a crush on this guy, and she WANTED him to be on their team?
Ava looked at Hannah's face, which had now turned into puppy mode. She sighed.
" If it's what you want....," She finally caved in.
Hannah grinned. " You'll just have to trust me, and Liam too," She said, bouncing on her toes.
" Great," Ava muttered under her breath. " Learning to trust a boy. Wonder how much fun THAT'S gonna be."
" Liam!" Hannah called to the boy, who was nearing the corner of the street. She waited until he was closer to them, and then said excitedly, " Ava's letting you join our team!"
" Really?" He yelled. He then winked at Ava. " So you're the head of the operation, eh?"
Ava blushed. " I mean, I was the one who got the locket and photo..............."
The three were silent for a minute, before Liam asked, " So where do we start?"
Hannah suddenly blurted out, " Ava needs to trust you!"
Ava glared at her. " Anyway," She said quickly, brushing the subject away, " We need to tell Liam about the WHOLE mystery. Let's go to the park and talk."
They were silent the whole way to the park, and when they got there, Hannah and Ava sat on one side of the table, and Liam on the other. Very quickly, Ava explained the whole situation, and Liam listened very carefully, or so she thought. When she was done, Liam asked, " May I see the locket?"
She gave it to him and watched while he inspected it all around, mumbling some unpronouncable words and touching the locket very softly.
" What are you doing?" Hannah asked after he had been doing the routine for a couple minutes.
Instead of answering her question, he turned to Ava. " I'm sure neither of you know that I am into history or old things."
Hannah and Ava looked at each other for a second and then back to Liam.
" So?" Ava pressed.
" Well," He paused. " For one, you're gonna have to trust that I know what I'm saying. So do you?"
Ava rolled her eyes and then sighed. " What ever." Hannah nodded, too.
" You ready?" Liam asked. When neither of the girls replied, he closed his eyes and whispered,
" This is Abigail Adams locket."
