Juliett's POV:

It's been a week since I last saw Jay and I haven't heard from him since. The things he said that day were still stuck in my head along with a million other things. I must've sent that boy thousands of texts and missed calls, but I got nothing back. I've even noticed Romeo avoided me lately and Randy, well, he hardly ever comes out of his room and Riley's always busy with something or the other. Was there something wrong with me?

It was on very rare moments that Randy got out of his room and it was usually when no one else was around. But, there was a day a week ago that I finally caught him outside of his room. I was in the kitchen getting a drink of water when he started heading my way, but as soon as he saw me, he tried to backtrack it back to his room. I cut in his way at the last minute though and he had no choice but to stop.

"Hey, Randy." I leaned in and gave him a hug.

"Hey." there was a moment when Randy just stood there awkwardly, trying to lean away from me. I held on to him longer and soon I could feel him sigh underneath me and give in, hugging me back.

"So, I was wondering..." I trailed off, looking up at him with a hopeful look on my face.

"What?" he eyed me cautiously.

"Would you'd like to go to the mall with me or something?"

"Sorry, I can't." he said without any hesitation.

My face fell, but I wasn't giving up this quick. "Well, why not?"

"I'm busy." he answered.

"Busy with what?" I persisted.

"Stuff."

"What kind of-"

"Just stuff, ok!" he barked.

"Ok." I shrunk back a little. Jeez.

"Sorry." he whispered, then stalked back to his room.

There had to be someone that I could talk to about Randy. There was no way Riley or Romeo would tell me, that was obvious, but maybe I could get something out from his parents.

But, I couldn't talk to them, not yet, it was too soon. They could ask me questions and want to know about mom and dad and when I wouldn't have the answer, they might try to go out and find out for themselves. They were rich and probably had connections with a ton of people who were good with sniffing the truth out and that's the last thing I needed.

Jay re-entering my life and breaking my heart was just the cherry on top of my disastrous life cake and there was only so much a person could take. I was sick and tired of people coming into my life and then just leaving without a valuable explanation. I promised myself I was no longer going to get close to people or let them get close to me, but what was more important - my pain or Randy's?

It didn't take me long to decide it was Randy's and besides I've dealt with a lot of shit in my whole lifetime, what was a little more? Sure, I'd probably be forced to leave the house if anyone found out about my parents, but that was something I'd have to worry about later on. First things first: help out the guy that's helped keep my childhood happy.

I went searching for Randy's mom, since I figured she would be the easier one to crack. She seemed to like me and who knows maybe she had the same lacking feelings for a daughter as I did for a mother.

I found her in her bedroom, checking her makeup. I knocked on her door and she looked pissed at first, but when she saw that it was me, she lightened up and smiled; that had to be a good sign.
