daniel's pov

"Hey there stranger."

I turn around to match the voice to a face. Y/n. She's standing just a couple feet away from me, leaning against the door frame to the exit. I don't move for a second, not sure if I'm seeing things right. I look at her, seeing her perfect smile, her sparkling eyes looking right at me. Yep, that's her. I look at her, my jaw nearly dropped. She runs to me, jumping into my arms, her legs around my waist. She wraps her arms around my neck tightly, her head resting against mine. I kiss her neck while she's still in my arms. I put her down, still keeping her close. I put my hands in her hair, feeling her face, making sure she's real. She puts her hands on top of mine, still smiling, I feel her face get warm.

"Hey hey hey, it's me." she says, her dimples showcased.

"How did you? How are- When did you? How did I-" she presses her lips into mine, completely cutting me off - how rude. I can't stop smiling, we quickly pull apart for a minute, she whispers, "Not important, now." We stay close, almost breathing the same air. I don't know what to do, I'm nearly shaking. I brush her hair with my fingers, the way that I used to. She laughs, the corners of her eyes wrinkling up as she smiles. Just then we hear someone near us, clearing their throat dramatically loud. Y/n nods her head to the person behind me, I turn my head - Ms. Adams.

"You're on in 5." is all she says, leaving us be. She gives me a kiss on the cheek, going on her tip-toes to reach me.

"Break a leg Romeo." she says, smirking. She walks away towards the exit, she turns around before going out, I smile at her as she does the same back. I look out onto the stage where I'm about to walk out onto. I take a deep breath, unable to contain my smile. The curtains open, I received my cue...Showtime.

~

The lights shine on my face. The audience cheers with their applause. We take our final bows, hand in hand, the whole cast in a line across the stage. Whistles and hollers come from the crowd, standing ovations everywhere. I can't hide this smile on my face, even if I tried. The curtains fall, causing us all to go backstage. I feel ecstatic, as if someone just charged me up to 100%. We celebrate with Ms. Adams and the rest of the cast, huddling up and basking in our glory. Everything was perfect, nothing went wrong; I wouldn't change anything. We continue celebrating when we see people waiting for us in the hallway. We go out and are greeted with applause from our families and friends, I search the crowd for Y/n. After scanning each face, I can't seem to find hers. I feel a tap on my shoulder, an instant smile goes on my face, thinking it's Y/n. I turn around to see Lovey. Not exactly who I was expecting, but it's fine I guess.

"Hey can I talk to you?" she asked. I nod my head casually, following her into one of the dressing rooms.

"What's up?" I take a seat on one of the stools, she stays standing.

"Well, I just wanted to say how proud I am for us, especially you. You killed it." A small smile appears on my face.

"Thanks Lovey, couldn't have done it without you. You've been great and so patient this past week." She looks down, containing her smile.

"That's actually why I wanted to talk to you..." I look at her, confused. Her smile fades, her eyes still glued to the floor. "These past weeks have shown me something..."

"And that is?"

"I love you Daniel Seavey." I look at her, to see if she's serious. Her eyes are low, her voice shaking - crap, she is.

"Lovey, this was the only time we've hung out. We never really talked before, not even when we had class together. I'm sorry, but it's not gonna happen." She doesn't look at me, probably heartbroken. I still don't see it, I swore I thought our relationship was completely friendly, nothing more.
