Jason is a pretty cool guy.
——————————————————————There were two young, female middle schoolers. We'll call them, October and September. They had just been sent to a wonderful orphanage with the rest of their siblings. Their parents having been taken from them a few nights before due to a terrible flesh ball of a human, taking the one born in October's first, then going after the one born in September. He only killed the parents, not the children, why? No one knows. He was caught and the children were informed on this, being somewhat relived from this information, but still absolutely devastated, their parents were killed for Christ's sake.
The orphanage they were sent too was absolutely wonderful, the children were treated nicely and well fed and taken care of, dispite the normal description of most orphanages. The people/caretakers were some of the sweetest people they've met, but the girls still couldn't get past the loss of their parents, no matter what the attempts were to get them to not think of said tragedy. Of course the siblings having some trouble doing so as well, but the girls, they were feeling a heap of emotions, none good. Anger, sadness, resentment, regret, hate, anxiousness, shame. They had both felt these since the night of loss, to the point where they both felt not a thing anymore.
If you asked, they couldn't tell you why the both ended up escaping and leaving the orphanage and walking aimlessly till they were on the roads surrounded by trees. They had no clue how long they had been walking for, but they walked till they were hungry, exhausted and completely numb, physically and mentally. They had been so quiet and slow with their movement that a bird had been repeatedly swooping down and flying in front of them, pretty much taunting them. September couldn't stand the damn thing, the bird swooped again and the broad girl stopped, reaching out and snatching the bird out of the air. Staring at the squirming animal in her hands for a couple of seconds before grabbing its head and twisting it with a sickening snap. Both girls stared at the dead bird in September's hand. The girl looked over at October to see her already starting at her. September glanced down at the deceased animal and back at October and made a you want it? motion to the girl. October continued on staring at the taller girl, and gently took the bird from the offering hand and sat in the grass, starting to pluck the birds feathers from its dead little body. September sat down next to her watching her do so, putting her head on the others shoulder.
After the small distraction the girls continue their walk, leaving the dead bird for the bugs to feast on. September stops abruptly, turning her head to the side facing a specifically dark path into the forest. As she does so, it begins to rain making the girl look up at the sky for a couple of seconds before looking at the patch of darkness in the trees again. October looks in the dark with her, only looking for a couple of seconds before racing off into the darkness, September immediately following after her. How are they doing this? You must be questioning. Weren't they exhausted? Hungry? Dehydrated? Yes, yes they were, but it seemed farther they ran through the path the more those varying pains faltered. The girls stopped a few feet away from large, charred and dirty looking cabins. They looked at eachother with their dead eyes and back at the structures, and continued in a slow paced walk towards the log houses. They walked around the site finding broken prices of wood, ash, and prices of what looked like wired fence, stepping in mud all the way.
October jogged over to September from where she was originally exploring, grabbing her hand and bringing her over to the new found sight. Both girls are now looking at a large, questionably blue lake. With both girls being as mentally numb as they could be, with September's fear of large body's of water now non-existent, she walks out onto the dock in front of them, neither side holding a boat, bringing October with her. They come to a stop at the edge of the dock, now next to eachother with the docks old wood no longer making any noise. October's starring straight ahead of them not making any sort of movement. September looks at the girls seemingly glossed over face and follows her eyes to the other end of the lake, only to see a tall, broad man in a navy blue jumpsuit with a hockey mask covering his face. He wields a machete in his left hand and has dried old blood covering said mask and jumpsuit. They stare at the man and he stares back at them. He tilts his head as if listening to something, then walks backwards into the dark trees. October is the first to sit down on the dock, September following her movements. They sit, and wait.
And it's only a few minutes later that they wait no more, as September glances over to October, only to see said machete next to her head, floating just above her shoulder. September stares back in front of her and after the longest time of the girls not feeling a thing, they finally feel something.
What is it they feel?
Safe.
