Chuck Versus the Birthday

Everyone was rushing around the room trying to sort out Sam's birthday decorations before Chuck bought her back from her day care. I couldn't believe my little baby was turning 3 today at 11:58am to be precise.

"Sarah, we need to hurry before Chuck and Sam get back." Ellie, Chuck's older sister snapped me out of my spiral of thoughts.

Ellie had come from California to celebrate Sam's birthday.

"Clara! No." I heard Devon shouting from mine and Chuck's bedroom. "Don't go in there sweetie, Aunt Sarah and Uncle Chuckles will be angry." He said in a soothing tone.

Clara is Ellie and Devon's daughter who is 5 years old. I remember when she was born and when me and Chuck had to get Chuck's mom in time for Clara's arrival. It was one of our most hectic moments and when Chuck proposed to me.

"We're home!" My head snapped around when I heard Chuck opening the door to our home, we had finally gotten the house we wanted, the one with the red door and the white picket fence and Chuck was walking in through that red door right now.

"Hey sweetie," Chuck said as he gave me a small peck on the lips "Sorry we're late. Sam wanted to see the dancing green frog outside the Buy More."

Sam jumped out of Chuck's arms and ran straight to my legs, hugged them as tight as she could and started to thank me for bringing Ellie and Devon or El-El and Captain Awesome as she called them. She got the name Captian Awesome from Morgan and Chuck.

"Oh Chuck,  where's Morgan? He said he would be back in a few minutes after picking Alex up from their appartment." I asked as soon as the thought of Morgan came into my mind.

"He is..." but Chuck got cut off when Morgan burst through the door with Alex and a suprise guest.

"Case-logic!!!" Clara and Sam shouted when Casey, my old partner and still, friend, walked through the door.

Chuck looked really happy to see him and even happier when Casey pulled him in for one of his huge bear hugs. Casey had gone of to work with his lover Gertrude Verbanski and had left her there to celebrate Sam's birthday with us all. Casey started to greet everyone after Devon came in with Clara. But today isn't one of my best days. My mother hadn't arrived yet and I was mainly looking foward to see her.

"Sarah," Chuck said whilst walking towards me, "I know your mother will be here. She knows that Sam is going to be 3 and she knows that it would hurt you if she missed the party."

He put his arm around me and I put my head on his shoulder. He smelt wonderful, he had a hint of some grapefruit though. Or was that me? "So, what's the birthday theme?" My mom asked when she saw me. I was so shocked, I couldn't believe she actually came, she even brought Molly along.

Molly came running into my arms and hugged me as tight as her little arms could let her. Molly was 5 years older than Clara and still, they were both the best of friends. Chuck spoke because he knew that I wouldn't have known what to say. "Well to celebrate the end of Sam's second year we decided to go with Chinese because me and Sarah had Chinese for our second real date."

He said this smiling as wide as he could whilst looking at me.

So that is my new story but I am not going to carry on with the story After the Kiss because I realised I got some facts wrong.
