The Damned King

Running throughout the forest when you couldn't feel your lungs was.. Well it wasn't a pleasant feeling, especially when you were accustomed to sitting around all day signing papers. I had been running for an hour, to be honest it felt like days. My breath was ragged as I tried to get some air into my now dying lungs, I'm pretty sure if I ran like this for another hour I was going to pass out.

I stopped to catch my breath, I glanced back to see another three people in black suits chasing after me, they pulled out their arrows and took aim and were about to let the arrow go.I started running again, I didn't bother looking back because I knew if I did, my head would be cut off and impaled on my own sword as victory. It was getting dark when I found a cave, known for being very short and agile. I slipped through and heard the hypocrites pass.

I gently took out the last thing I had left of my kingdom, wiped it off with my now ripped sleeve to reveal a shimmer of ancient gold and rubies, memories rushing back. I tucked it back in the old rucksack and rummaged through all the things I had left, desperately hoping to find something to eat. All hope disappeared like a cloud driven by the wind when I found nothing but some old torches and valuables. Hey, it was better than nothing.

I figured they'd come to check once they were sure they'd lost me so I decided to get out of my little hiding spot and walk endlessly. My legs were aching and my stomach was yearning for another meal. Even a rotten sandwich sounded like heaven right now. Following the sounds of a distant river, I lost no time in drinking huge gulps of water. That's when I heard some leaves rustle behind me..
