Isolated, surrounded only by shadows, Persia relapsed. Her face beat red, dripping with sweat. Gazing to her left, a hideously large rat peered back. It dug its oversized snout into its hairless, pink hands. The large rat frightened and captivated her, she had never seen such a large rodent before. Even when she had her guinea pig, it never grew to such an immaculate size.

Disregarding the rodent's large stature, she felt a familiar sense of fear lingering from it. "Like me." She thought. Her hands shaking, palms covered in sediment and sewer water, she reached her arm out as if to give the rodent something. "Here." Her once soft, but now almost raspy voice scratched. The rat stared at her dirty hand, a half eaten piece of moldy bread, sullied in sewer water. "It's all I have." Her voice rasped. The rat slowly approached her small hand, its long whiskers tickling her fingers.

Unhinging its big jaws, the rat grew double in size, it's already large build becoming even more imposing. Lunging back in fear, Persia tried to run, but the beast grabbed her leg. In that moment, Persia felt something. Something that didn't seem physical. Almost as if this hunk of a beast was like her. No. "Part of me." Her mind raced. All of the horrible events that took place previous to her current predicament flashed before her eyes.

Peering behind her, she tried kicking at the monster, but it was futile. The once grimy and disgusting oversized sewer rat was something completely different. It had no color. No individuality. It pulled her closer and closer, the pungent fumes radiating off of the beast were enough to incapacitate a person. She struggled as much as humanly possible, screaming, clawing at the ground, grabbing nearby objects and hurling them at the beast. But nothing worked, it seemed like nothing was coming in contact with the creature except for her. Finally, the beast wrapped her up in its arms, like a bear hug.

Her fear skyrocketed, tears welled from her eyes as she attempted to scream once more, but the creature's giant arm covered her mouth. "Why is this happening?" She thought, questioning her past. How drastic everything became. Everything she loved was gone, it was only herself. "That's right. It's just me." She closed her eyes. Her tears quit spilling. The scrapes on her palms ceased stinging. "No one will care."

Embracing her fear, Persia let the beast consume her.

Brick homes sank into dust. The large black figure ceased to exist, instead there stood Persia; her pupils pitch black. Screams filled the area, destruction followed. Hard smacking sounds rang through the streets like the Bell of Mornings. Flying through the air, Persia's otherwise frail body seemed indestructible. She crashed through wooden pillars, iron carriages and windows like straw.

Persia had lost herself, or perhaps found herself. She couldn't really understand. It's as if she lost control of her actions, but she felt warm. Warmer than the months that she spent alone, starving and poor. These selfish people running for their pathetic lives never even considered her's. They didn't spare her a single piece of bread. Why should she spare them their lives?

With great furocity, Persia ripped through anything in front of her. "Why are you doing this?" A child screeched. Head of flames, eyes of sapphire. Suddenly, the warmness that Persia had, converted into a burning sensation. "Why?" She muttered, the word ringing throughout her mind. "Because of you demons. You made me like this. You casted me out. I was abandoned by you monsters." It was unforgivable. For such a privileged brat to mutter such despairing words.

With all the anger in her heart, extinguishing an ungrateful imp of such ignorance would be simple. Almost vanishing, Persia shot towards the young child. Sticking her hand outward, she came within an inch of beheading the boy. But he vanished. "You poor girl. To be so lost to attack a child." A sly voice came from the direction of the Sun's rays. Her anger continued to well, she couldn't contain it. Such privileged people, so concerned for themselves. Not even considering the less fortunate.

Blowing up in a fit of rage, a black aura surrounded Persia. A beast appeared in her place. It was a familiar warmth. "There should be a ladder somewhere behind us, get down and find your mother." The man told the boy. "But, what are you going to do?" The boy asked in a concerned tone. "My job." The man replied. Bearing its teeth at the man in the Sun, the beast flung its weight towards him. With a swift dodge, the creature flew past the man. "Why's he so fast?" Persia thought. The man turned his head, "You seemed to have lost your way, young lady."

Suddenly, he evaporated into the air. His presence disappeared. He was gone. Persia couldn't tell, he was too fast. "I'll help you find your way." The man placed his hand on the creature's chest. Light illuminated from his palm, "What's happening? Something's being sucked away." The black aura, being ripped off, exposing Persia's dark skin. The creature vanished, leaving only Persia, collapsed on the roof.

"What happened?" The boy asked. "What are you doing here? I told you to get off of the roof, do you know how much danger you were in?" The man responded, a vein protruded from his forehead. "Well, you dealt with her faster than I could get down. So I came back." The boy's curious face was sincere. A sigh escaped from the man's thin lips, "I put the beast to sleep." The boy's face twisted even more in curiosity, "Sleep?" The man laughed, "Yes, that's my job. I'm a light bringer."
