Mary-Rose's POV
As we're rowed over to the pirate ship, I borrow Elizabeth's pirate medallion. Neither her or the pirates notice. We arrive at the ship and I go up first. Elizabeth follows and I help her onto the deck. The two pirates appearing grabbing us. They start to lead us to their captain when a tall black man blocks our way.
"I didn't know we was taking captives" the black pirate states.
"They've invoked the right of parlay... with Captain Barbossa" Pintel tells him. Yes, I found out the name of our kidnappers. By eavesdropping.
I noticed a silhouetted figure moves toward the stairs. A cloud of fog obscures him -- and then, as if he skipped the stairs, he strides out of the fog on the main deck. He must be the captain. "I am here to..." Elizabeth starts to say and is cut off by the black pirate back handing her.
"You know, I was under the impression those who invoked parley were not to be harmed until the parley is complete" I state.
"You'll speak when spoken too" he snaps going to slap me also. His wrist is grabbed -- painfully -- by Barbossa.
"And you'll not lay a hand on those under the protection of parley" Barbossa tells him sternly.
"Aye sir" the pirate grumbles and Barbossa releases him. Then turns to smile at Elizabeth and I.
"My apologies, misses. As you were saying, before you were so rudely interrupted?" he asks Elizabeth.
"Captain Barbossa ... I have come to negotiate the cessation of hostilities against Port Royal" Elizabeth tells him. He looks mildly impressed and amused.
"There was a lot of long words in there, miss, and we're not but humble pirates. What is it you want?" Barbossa asks her.
"She wants you to leave" I tell him in a bored tone.
"And never come back" Elizabeth adds.
"I am disinclined to acquiesce to your request" Barbossa tells her.
"Means 'No'" I clarify. "If that's this case, lets try a different approach shall we?" I ask smirking holding up the medallion. "Now I'm no expert in pirates, I despise them actually. But for some reason you want this and something tells it's not just because of how much you can sell it for. How would you feel if I drop it in the ocean?" I ask hanging it over the side.
"My holds are bursting with swag. That bit of shine matters to me ... Why?" Barbossa asks trying to play it cool.
"Because it's what you're searching for. You've been searching for it for years. I recognize this ship. I saw it eight years ago, when we made the crossing from England" Elizabeth states from beside me.
"Though I suppose if this is worthless, there's no reason to keep it" I state. I flip the medallion and the crew yell 'no!'. I catch it with a triumphant smirk.
"You have a names, missy?" Barbossa asks us.
"Elizabeth... Turner. I'm maid in the governor's household" Elizabeth lies. Barbossa reacts to the name Turner: it confirms what he has suspected. The other pirates surreptitiously exchange glances and nods.
"I won't give you my name" I state. "Just know I've raised Elizabeth and wish for safe passage to a new Port" I add.
"Very well. You hand that over, we'll put your town to our rudder and ne'er return" Barbossa says holding a hand out to me.
"Now you see, we have a problem. You've robbed me of my pay day pirate, I want compensation" I tell him.
"You're a pirate?" he asks me and I glare at him.
"Don't ever call me that, I'd rather rot in prison then be called a pirate" I snap.
"But you stole me necklace" Elizabeth states.
"Not helping and I did it without force" I state.
"Ah a Pilferer, you guys give us a bad name" Barbossa states.
"It's the other way round, you pirates give us a bad name. We get caught we're branded pirates. Down right unacceptable, I've lived in Port Royal for eight years and never been caught. You all come along and ruin my big pay day" I tell him.
"Stealing from the Governor's household?" he asks.
"Where else? That's why I want safe passage, if they discover the stolen goods in my coat. I'll be hanged on my return" I state.
"I think we can help you out, but we need that medallion and Miss Turner" he tells me.
"Fine, but I want new clothes" I tell him and hand it over. We start to sail away and Elizabeth protests. She's locked in a cabin while I'm taken to Barbossa's. I examine it looking for any valuables.
"Steal from me and I'll let my crew have you" he tells me.
"You really think I'd be that stupid?" I ask as I lounge on his chair. "Now I can only imagine why you need Elizabeth. But why keep me around?" I ask him.
"You managed to survive and steal in Port Royal without detection for eight years. That's a unique skill" he states.
"Capture, not detection. They figured out there was a thief five years ago, but think it's male" I tell him.
"Still impressive" he tells me.
"I'll never become a pirate, I don't like your ideals" I tell him. "I'm happy to continue pilfering though" I add. Someone knocks on the door.
"Clothes sir" the black pirate says. "Pintel and Ragetti hacve taken Miss Turner a dress" he adds.
"Good, prepare a feast for our guests" Barbossa tells. The pirate leaves the clothes behind. "I'll leave you to get changed" he says and leaves. I pants first followed by the black boots. I slip on the shirt and remove my dress. Then put my hands through the shirt's sleeves and put on the jacket.
I admire myself in the mirror and let my hair down. Then put it in a loose ponytail. Soon the food and drink is set out. Elizabeth appears in a maroon dress and Barbossa pulls a seat out for her. I sit down by myself. This should be interesting.
