Chapter 9: Where's Dad?

Luna's POV

I wake up and see that Jake wasn't in the room. I rub my eyes and sit up in my bed. I get up and walk downstairs. I walk in the kitchen and see that my mom was crying.

I say "Mom. What's wrong?"

She looks up and wipes her tears away and she says "Its nothing sweetheart."

I say "Mom. You promised no more secrets."

She says "Your father never came home last night and he texted me and told me he had a last minute business trip, but I called his office and they said that they didn't have any business trips scheduled."

I say "Have you tried calling him?"

She says "He won't answer me."

I say "I'll call him. Have you seen Jake?"

She says "He left earlier this morning without a word. Did you know he was leaving?"

I say "No..... He must be with his mom."

She says "Let me know if you get ahold of your father."

I say "I will."

I walk back upstairs to my room and grab my phone. I try to call dad but he declined it and then sent me a text telling me to stop calling him. I call him again and he answers.

I told you to stop calling. Tell your mother that I am on a business trip.

Your office told mom that there wasn't any business trips scheduled.

I never said it was a business trip for work.

Dad? Your not cheating on mom are you?

..........

Dad?!

I will be home tomorrow. Tell your mother that I had to take care of something for work and that I told the office not to tell anyone.

Please tell me your not cheating on mom.

I'll see you tomorrow Luna. I love you.

*end of call*

I sit there in shock and I almost start crying. I grab my car keys and my wallet and go downstairs. I tell mom what dad said and tell her that I was gonna go to Dannie's house.

I go outside and get in my car. I start the car and drive off. I eventually pull up at Dannie's house and park the car. I knock on the door and her mom opens the door.

"Luna? What a surprise."

I say "Hey Mrs. Fletcher. Is Dannie here?"

She says "No. She's actually at Carla's house. Is everything okay?"

I say "Yeah. Everything is fine."
