Kairi, the lady, and Mattia sat down together in the back of a 1935 Oldsmobile. Kairi stared straight ahead as Mattia looked off into the distance with tears threatening to spill and a lump in his throat."You two are in for a treat,"The lady blabbered whom was sitting in the middle,"Crystal chandeliers, platinum donuts."
Kairi just looked at her without saying a word, then returned his gaze back in the direction it originally was at. He zoned out all sounds and stuck to himself as he shifted more towards the window. At this point Mattia was crying, he knew he was going die and he wasn't ready for it.
They all got out on one side, and was facing a huge train. It was modernized and had a grey undertone to it. The peacekeepers grabbed them and forced them onto the train. Both Mattia and Kairi stopped in awe at the sight of what the train had looked like inside.
There were two counters, one in the front and one in the back, that had desserts on it and flowers in vases. A medium sized table was placed in the middle of the room, with blue velvet chairs to it. There were glass chandeliers hanging from above, and bottles of wine stacked in the back. The two tributes never seen anything like it.
[5 minute time skip]
"200 miles per hour and you can barely feel a thing,"The lady said crossing her legs in a chair,"I think it's a rather wonderful thing about this opportunity that even though you're here and even though it's just for a little while, you get to enjoy all of this."
"I'm going to find Haymitch,"The lady continued after a small pause while looking at them both,"He's probably in the back car."
With that, the two boys were left alone beside each other. There was an awkward tension filling the air and neither wanted to speak up.
"Have you ever met him?"Mattia asked after minutes past. Kairi looked at everything but him nor did he say anything.
"Haymitch?"Mattia continued as he looked at Kairi whom sat beside him. Still, he said nothing.
"You know, Kairi, he is our mentor,"Mattia said trying to make conversation,"He did witness things once."
Kairi stood his ground and didn't say a word. He didn't feel like talking, he just wants to go back home to his sister.
"Look,"Mattia said getting frustrated,"You know if you don't want to talk, I understand. But I just don't think there's anything wrong with getting a little bit of help."
With that Kairi turned his head and looked him straight in the eyes. They both stared at each other fiercely as Kairi licked his bottom lip. They broke eye contact as they heard the door open from in front of them. Mattia sat up wanting to stand, but stopped himself as he looked at the person walking in.
"Congratulations,"the man said drunk while patting Mattia on the head.
The man walked over to the wine and grabbed a bottle. He opened it with his mouth and poured the substance in his glass to the brim. Mattia and Kairi both stared at him in confusion and concern as the man drunk the whole glass in one gulp. The man came over and sat down in front of the two pair.
"So where's the girl," The man said drinking out of the bottle of wine. Kairi quickly looked down as his face turned red.
"Oh well, not my problem,"The man said leaning back.
