"Lord Phoenix," a voice called out into the darkness. "I have.. distressing news."

A man, robed in black and blue, stepped into the pillar of sunlight, showing off his newly washed cape. His glasses reflected the dim light shining through.

"What is it now, Toni?" Lord Phoenix called from his throne. He wore a dark red and black medieval jacket that was sewn out of Italian Renaissance fabric. His eyes were a fiery orange and hair a dirty blonde. He set a hand on his cheek and sighed. "Did the gas prices go up again?"

"Erm...no, my Lord. That boy, Jered, found his sisters, Valor and Tobi," his servant informed. Phoenix's grip on his throne tightened.

"Why that little.." he snarled. "I should have killed Jered ages ago! Argh!" He slammed his fist down on the obsidian throne.

"Calm yourself, my Lord," Toni said soothingly. "I have a plan. For that matter, I request to be dismissed on behalf of your accord." Phoenix nodded slightly, his gaze never leaving Toni's eye. Toni plucked a crystal planted in the ground and exited the chamber as the lava bubbled. As he strutted through the narrow hallways, he found the potions chamber and started creating his plan's greatest weapon. The room was pitch black, but Toni could still see, for his vision did not matter, but only his Lord's vision.

Valor's breath quickened its pace. Tobi shot up, looking at her as sunlight pooled onto the white tiled floor of their bedroom.

"Did you see that?" Valor breathed, dropping the pencil she was using to finish a math homework assignment. It clattered on the floor and her sister nodded.

"Yeah, I did.. Toni's evil and working for someone named Lord Phoenix. I got that much," she replied. They both sat up. A few seconds of silence passed by.

"We need to tell Artemis," Tobi declared. She stood up and ran to her large cork bulletin board covered in hundreds of sticky notes and pinned papers of all colors, which was on the other side of the room near a large window sill.  She ripped a pink piece of paper off it.

"What's that?" Valor asked, hopping up to her feet too.

"His address, duh," she remarked. "The owl thing was too obvious last time."

Valor shrugged and asked, "He gave you his address?"

"Uh, yeah."

"Oooo. That means something," Valor winked. Tobi blushed.

"Hey! This is for emergency purposes! Also, you're the one who rides on his back!" Tobi fired back. Valor's face flushed as she tried not to smile.

"Hey! It's not my fault- I can't fly!" she protested.

"Good excuse," Tobi said sarcastically. "Now let's go!" She skipped downstairs just as her sister muttered, "But it is a good excuse..."

"Mom!" Tobi called out, as Valor slipped her boots on. "We're going out!"

"Where?" Kristal asked, writing the last line in her poetry.

"A friend's house," Valor white lied. Her mother gaped a little and broadened a grin.

"I'm glad you made a friend!" she exclaimed a little too happily, which made Tobi and Valor sweat anxiously. She set down her glass pen. "Be back by seven."

Valor and Tobi nodded and quickly headed out the door. They both released the breaths they held. "Oh, thank the Lord mom can't read minds like me!" Valor groaned out gratefully. Tobi snorted.
