Chapter 6
We slowly walked up the spiral stairs after Soren got pushed off by that cheater, and headed back to our seats to wait for Soren to come back. I hope he's okay. He fell at least fifty meters. Lunar goes to the snack table to stuff her mouth with cookies. "If you like them so much, why don't you just take some with you after?" I asked. "Because that's stealing!" She protests after swallowing another cookie whole. "I mean, it can't be counted as stealing. They are giving them away for free." I shrugged. "Still . . ." Lunar stuffed another cookie into her mouth. I get up and look around to see what they have to eat. There were tables full of food. Cake, pie, cupcakes, cookies, any dessert you could think of! I pick up a couple macarons and go back to my seat. A minute or two later, soren came barging into the room. The door made a loud noise as it bounced off the wall. It almost hit Soren, it came back so fast. Luke came in after Soren, trying to stop the door from hitting his face. "Hey, guys! Look who won the challenge!" He said smugly. "By default." Lunar teased. "Shut up dog breath." Soren came to sit down next to us. "Soren, where'd you get that?" I asked, staring at the Khopesh that was hanging onto the ground next to him. "Oh. . . uh, Blake gave this to me for an apology." He awkwardly grinned. "Didn't expect that from someone who cheated . . ." I look back at the battlefield. "Hikari, is it? You should get ready for your challenge." Luke suggested. "Okay, but what's the challenge going to be this time?" I asked. "I heard that it's a surprise challenge. It could really be anything." Luke shrugged. "Alright then." I got up out of my seat and walked to the entrance of the challenge room. Very helpful."Wait, before you leave!" Lunar called. I turned around. "What is it?" "Do you know what the stance is. . . Harper was doing earlier?" She asked, curious. "It was nothing, he didn't know the first thing about stances." "Knew it!" She smiled and went to go sit back down. I leaned against the wall and waited for them to call my name. I think about what the challenge might be.
"Remi, please come down to the challenge room."
Just before I opened the door, I heard some people across the room talking. I freeze before opening the door and listen to what they're saying. I kept my head facing the door to not seem suspicious. "We have to stop those stuck up people at any cost!" Those guys must be the people I'm going against then. I just tried to ignore it. I pushed the door open and stepped into the room. The lights flicker on, and I see a big empty white room with giant windows on the sides. Oh, so It's a simulation room. Soren's challenge must have been too a simulation room too to make the lava effect. What could the challenge be? I walk to the farther left corner of the room and wait. A couple seconds later, the other contestants walked into the room and stood on the top right side. We wait a minute or two for the challenge to start. The lights turn off, then flicker back on. One side of the room turns bright blue, while the other side turns red. Oh-
