Peace treaty?

Liam's pov

My office is filled with the representatives of the Crescent Blood pack and my advisers. This meeting will go one of two ways, one, their alpha will challenge me head on or two, it will be a very long, heated argument between both of our packs. The peace treaty will inevitably remain the same by the end of either scenario. This whole once a year pow-wow is just a cover for the Crescent Bloods to stake out any possible weakness's in an attempt to figure out a way to take me out.

Canis, their Alpha is lounging in the chair across from my desk. He's the kind of person that puts my hackles up. It's a shame that he's nothing like his grandfather. Now that was a man worth his salt. "We are looking for sanctuary, until our sister pack can join us in our battle against the rouges for our land." Canis rudely states before I had a chance to sit in my desk chair. Wow, no strategy in his blunt demands.

"So I take it that todays meeting really has nothing to do with the peace treaty, but more or less, for you to have a way of asking permission for territory share?" I reiterate the proper way of addressing this issue as I sit. Canis looks at me blankly. I swear the boy is one crayon short of a twelve pack Crayola set. I'll give him one thing, he was smart enough not to ask for a meeting about rouge issues. He knew I would of denied him an audience, but if he asks this way, I have no choice.

"That is what I just said" Canis exasperates. He rubs the bridge of his nose, than looks me straight in the eyes. " I know our packs don't get along and if I thought there was another way to keep our families safe, I'd rather do that instead, but the fact is your territory is the only one that the rouges are scared to enter. Once we take care of the issue, we'll be out of your fur." He finishes. I lean back and study him to see if he's telling the truth. My wolf hasn't stirred, so that is a good sign for Canis. Canis is starting to get agitated by my silence. "Don't forget the universal pack code" he spits. Ah yes, he is down to the last persuasive card he has, the universal code. He's referring to code three 'under mutual threats fellow packs must unite or offer sanctuary till the threat is resolved.'

"I will allow you territory share, so long as you and your pack remember the universal pack code number four." Canis looks confused of my statement. Sighing I recite the code. "All packs seeking sanctuary must abide by all rules of the pack offering territory share."

"Sure, so long as our families are protected." He sneers back. I give a firm nod, than pull out a document.

"As soon as you sign this agreement, you can move in." I place the ten page territory share agreement in front of him. I always keep copies as times are very unpredictable these days. Out raged he stands up.

"What the hell is this?! You don't trust us?!"

"Documentation and our pack rules. Any pack staying on my lands must sign it. Trust has nothing to do with it." I watch his fingernails dig into his palms, his face red. I calmly put the pen down on the paper. "I'm in my rights to kick you out of my territory if you don't agree." He snatches the pen, digs his signature into the document, then storms out of my office. His pack follows on his heels. "Penny, would you mind making copies of this and keep each one in a different, safe place?" Penny, my beta smirks as she lightly takes the papers off the desk.

"Gladly" she sing-songs. The rest of my advisers seem happy with the outcome as they leave too. So much for renewing the peace treaty. Maybe we can do that, after Crescent Blood is able to move back into their own territory.

I have a lot of preparations for the new arrivals. I'll have to open up the blue house a mile from here. It's been a while since it's housed refugees. Standing up, I stretch the kinks out of my tensed muscles, than head to my truck to load it up with supplies from town. Maybe my mate would enjoy an outing, after being cooped up for so long. I hope she trusts me enough to come along.
