Aro's Mate

Chapter two

Aro puts his arm around me and I tense up, he walks me over to a small bench on the side of the room and we sit down. I sit with my hands in my lap looking down, not sure what to do. Aro puts his cold hand under my chin and picks my face up so I face him

"I guess I owe you and explanation of what is going on" he smirks. I slowly not my head up and down. He chuckles and grabs my hands in his

"I, and all of my other brothers and sisters, are vampires." He waits for me to react and I just look down and clench my hands. I mean it makes sense, they did kill my family just by biting their necks, their skin is pale and cold, and they have red eyes. I stay quiet, not wanting to give my attention to him since that's what he wants.

"Look at me please" he grabs my face again and I look into his eyes. He actually isn't that bad looking and I can tell I'm kind of drawn to him in a way.

"Like I said, you are my mate. All vampires have one they just might not meet them for a long time. If the mate is human, they must become a vampire" I gasp and pull my hands away

"Please let me go I don't want this" my eyes start to fill with tears.

"Breathe my love, it will come naturally to you" he grabs my hands again. He is actually really nice, but I am still hesitant.

"We are meant to be mates, since we have met now, the moment we separate it will feel like your heart is missing something, you will long for me" he smiles that smile again, there's something about that smile that I cant take my eyes off of.

"And you are looking at a great life here, see I am one of the three kings of the Volturi coven, we are the head of all vampire covens and enforce the rules. You will live here with me in this castle, a life of luxury" he squeezes my hands and I think back to my sister talking about imagining living here, now I actually will live here. Then I look over at my dead family on the floor

"How am I supposed to be happy when you killed my family?" he sighs.

"It had to happen, they knew we existed the minute they stepped into the room, and the rules say if a human finds out about us they must be killed, unless they are our mate, like you. So that being said, if you refuse to become a vampire, you will simply be killed" tears start to stream down my face and he brings his hands up to my face and wipes my tears away

"I promise you will be happy, once you become a vampire your life will change, you wont remember a lot from your human life and we will get to be together and in love" I look up at him and into his piercing red eyes

"I- I guess I have no other choice" he smiles at my words

"Magnifico" he says before planting a soft cold kiss on my forehead.

"When will I become.. you know... like you?" I ask and he chuckles

"You can say vampire, and when we are married, after the ceremony I will turn you" my eyes open wide at the word marriage

"Woah I didn't even think about marriage, I'm only 17" I say to him and he frowns

"Well we are going to be together forever, it only makes sense to marry. When do you turn 18?" he puts my hair behind my ear. His touches are so soft and delicate, I like it.

"2 weeks" I say as I look up at him

"Then we will marry in two weeks! That way we can spend the next 2 weeks getting to know each other and getting you used to life here" he says with a smile. I nod my head

"I think that will work" I softly smile back at him,

"Amelia darling, you have a Bellissima smile" I blush a little and he stands up and grabs my hands to help me up

"Oh and there's one more thing, some vampires have powers, mine is I can read your thoughts and see all your memories when I touch you, which explains me talking about your boring life earlier" he laughs.

"Wait you've been reading my mind this whole time?" I say a little upset

"No, actually. I only do it when I choose and I wanted you to talk to me honestly and me not know exactly what you were thinking".

"Oh" I smile a bit "that's nice of you" he nods and takes my hand. He leads me to the door, just as we get there another vampires walks in

"Master Aro, should we get these cleaned up?" he points to the bodies and I get another look at my family, sad to leave them behind.

"Yes Dimitri right away" Aro says and he leads me out of the room

"Let me show you to my quarters" we walk hand in hand down the hallway and each vampire we pass looks at me and smiles their creepy vampire-like smile. Am I really going to be one of them? Will I have to kill people? These thoughts run through my head and then I look up and over at Aro, the man I am to marry. Is he really my "mate"? He looks down at me and smiles that smile again and I cant help but blush. Maybe he is.
