Adramelech's fire didn't extinguish. And it looked like she planned on keeping it that way. Trance whipped his tail furiously. Adramelech shot balls of fire at Trance as he flew around the room. She hit a fire detector, resulting in a shower. However, the room was filled with a thick cloud of steam instead of putting out the flame. Fires hotter than hell's torture rooms. I could see Adramelech's fire glowing, but Trance was hidden.

A whirlwind had dissipated the steam as Trance shot a bolt of lightning at the burning fire. The lightning pierced her shield and electrocuted Adramelech. The blaze weakened more and more as Trance kept sending the bolts at her.

"I can't lose like this! Anima sacrificium."

Lilith, who was holding my roped body in the corner, collapsed. One of Adramelech's eyes turned yellow.

"You fucking bitch!"

Trance charged at Adramelech but was tossed aside with the wave of her finger. Trance crashed into the wall and coughed up blood. No! Trance!

"TRANCE! Come on! GET UP!"

Trance shot up into the air for a second attempt. He shot another lightning bolt at Adramelech, who returned the attack straight into his chest. Like a bird shot down, he slammed into the ground head first. I CAN'T TAKE THIS!  I was filled with the overwhelming instinct to protect Trance. I felt the demon king inside me rise to power as the energy ran rampant in my body. My so-called soul pulsed violently, stopping Adramelech from attacking Trance once more.

Two horns sprouted from my skull. A set of sharpened fangs pushed my human teeth out of my jaw. A pointed tail protruded from the end of my spine. A set of hardened talons extended from my finger tips. I snapped the rope tied around me like a brittle leaf and stomped over to Adramelech, from whom I sensed a tremor of unease. She bowed down on the floor.

"Your majesty! I didn't r-realize you were the Demon King. Please f-forgive me. I-"

I set a foot down on the back of her head, crushing her face into the cement. She sputtered in slight protest to my punishment.

"You dare mock me, you filthy demon. Now you grovel before me after threatening my life! Who would show mercy to a piece of shit like you!?"

I pressed harder and twisted my foot. I could hear her skull cracking under the pressure. Trance stirred behind me. I turned to check on him. He seems to be okay for now. I continued to press harder and harder until her head popped like a water balloon under my foot. I threw her body into the air and pierced it to smithereens. A beautiful scarlet rain congratulated me on finally becoming the demon king. Trance was already on his feet, staring in amazement at the scene before him. I stuck out my tongue as the blood fell. The flavor was intense. The best blood I've come across.

"Zoinks, Trance! Why are you so shocked? I only used like three percent of my power."

Suddenly, I felt a burning sensation on my chest. I pulled down the collar of my shirt to see my mark disappearing. Desperately, I ran over to Trance and tried to hug him, but a cloud took his place. I blew through the spot he was supposed to be standing in.

"TRANCE! Where are you!?"

Something was tingling in my feet. I looked down to see that my feet were fading. What the hell is happening to me!?

An alarm clock went off in the distance. Shut up already. It carried on with its annoying drilling. Ugh! My body sat itself up to search for the alarm. I felt an arm around my waist. I rubbed my eyes and saw Trance laying peacefully beside me. WHAT THE FUCK!?  I brushed his arm off, which woke him up. He saw that I was sitting next to him in the same bed. Trance held his hands up in surrender.

"I swear I didn't do anything! I don't even know how we got here."

Trance still had his wings, ears, and tail. But his eyes were back to normal. I realized I still had my tail. I touched the teeth in my mouth. They were pointed. Trance and I were both still wearing the clothes that we fought the last two serial killers with.

"What are we doing here!?"

"How would I know!?"

A gentle knock on the door startled us. The being behind it opened the door and walked in cautiously.

"Sorry to bother you, your highness. But I am the one that brought you here. I found you and your partner unconscious in my front yard. The mark on your face made me believe that the demon king had finally returned to the demon world."

"What mark?"

They walked out the door and shortly returned with a mirror. My eyes were normal, but my right cheek had a small, red crown marking. I dropped the mirror.

"Wait...we're in the demon world?"

"That is correct your highness. I am merely a common citizen. Would you like me to escort you two to the castle?"

"I'll let my partner take me to the castle since he seems familiar enough with this world."

"That is fine, your highness. Have a safe journey."

"We will. Thank you for your generous hospitality."

Trance picked me up and carried me out the door. This world was definitely different from the "surface". An orange haze covered the sky. Demons flew in the sky like birds. Other demons without wings walked about in their unique forms. Mostly everyone wore black. As we flew by, many people bowed and referred to me as "your highness". It was a weird feeling.
