After the incident, Mic watched his boyfriend fall apart. Aizawa refused to be vulnerable in front of his students. It hurt that Mic appeared to earn the same treatment. Especially since Aizawa was resorting to his old coping methods. He wouldn't eat, just drink his juice pouches and sleep. The two hadn't even spoken since he came from the hospital weeks before. Hizashi had enough.
"Shota." His voice was low. He was mindful to his boyfriend's distaste for pretending nothing happened, so he was careful not to yell.
Shota peeled an eye open lazily. He didn't speak. Instead he waited on the blond to beg him to eat, to give him the same empty reassurances as always.
"Bakugou and Midoriya haven't been fighting. They're both so focused. And Kirishima has been getting serious, too. He's been training more."
Aizawa closed his eye.
"You aren't the only one feeling alone, you know," Mic frowned. "It's hard to love you when you're behaving like a ghost." He let out a small chuckle, obviously more upset than nervous.
Aizawa still said nothing. He didn't even move. He just listened as Hizashi inched into his room. The air was stiff, almost tense. The bed squeaked as Hizashi lowered himself.
"I know you're blaming yourself for Eri."
When he said her name, Aizawa couldn't help but open his eyes. Mic spoke with such ignorance of the entire situation. He was almost guilt free by the tongue. It made Shota mad. Especially since he was right.
"You're calling yourself weak and punishing yourself. You shouldn't, though. You can't save everyone. But you still saved her. The man I love knows that."
You can't save everyone. That's something he knows. Every hero knows that. He didn't save her. Not really. Otherwise, she'd be somewhere else. With them, maybe. But not at the hospital, unable to be seen.
"-this? He wouldn't. That's not the man I-"
"Then leave."
Mic stuttered, cutting off his failed inspirational speech. He leaned back in shock as the raven haired man rose, his blankets falling, mocking the bags under his eyes. His eyes that were puffy, glossed over, and such an angry red. They bored into Hizashi, but Hizashi knew Shota couldn't see him.
"Get out," Aizawa went on to say,"If you won't let me heal on my own, if it's so hard for you to love me, then leave."
Mic shook his head,"But you're not healing, Sho. You're rubbing raw wounds."
"Leave!"
So Hizashi stood from the bed and bowed. He placed a small box on Shota's desk and left. A heartbeat later, Aizawa opened the box to see a blue diamond on a black band.

Shota and Hizashi did their best to avoid each other. Shota was filled with shame, and Eri's unconscious state only made matters worse. Even the students could tell his neglected health was taking a toll on him. His beard had grown, he was constantly sleeping, and his face seemed to consist of more eyebags than skin.
Mic, on the other hand, appeared fine. This excluding the fact that he hasn't spoken a word since he left. Under his shades were tears. He didn't bother styling his hair, opting to leave it down.
Before announcing the festival, Nezu called all staff members for a meeting. Needless to say, the tension was thick across the table for the entire meeting.
