Prologue

This wasn't supposed to happen.

I constantly forced my consciousness to wake as my vision blurred and my senses started to vanish. My hands were stretched wide, reaching, reaching, reaching, clawing my way back in.

But to no success. My powers felt as if they were contained, and gravity, which never before, had started to work on me.

I succumbed to darkness and despair.

My name is Taeyeon. But that name is long forgotten over the centuries, so I made myself another name, Kei.

Every full moon, I search for the tiniest holes in the hateful sky filled with watching stars, the sky that locked my entire being in for over a thousand years now.

If it were a canvas, I'd be enlightened to set it on flames and watch it crumble into ashes. If it were a skin, oh bless, I'd slowly pluck out the stars and let it bleed until it dies.

Knowing that I can't do anything as in my imagination, the moon looked at me with such mockery that, congratulations to it, it had achieved its mission in adding more fuel to the flame of my wrath.

I slashed and slashed. The sky looked as if wounded for a moment, then turned back to normal, just like my wretched being. If only my powers weren't nullified to this point, I'd shatter every nook and cranny of this damned sky.

I hammered my scythe, full force, into its dotted belly, only to brace for its equal impact and nothing more. The terrible metal noise rang, but in this rotten world only I can hear it. Possibly a few human beings who can sense things more than a normal human being can.

I went for my last strike, the sound much more horrible, for all I care about those humans. My scythe glitched in its glorious neon lights and vanished into thin air. The stars sneered together at my whatever-the-count-is-attempt at escape.

My soul is sick and dry. My blood burned within my skin, my adrenaline was taken up a notch.

I want to kill.
