Malta is six hours ahead from USA so by the time we reached there it was two in the morning so after the complicated stuff of the flight that our parents dealt with we went to our hotel.
The hotel was a twenty minutes drive from the airport so we called a cab. Surprisingly the roads were still running at this time of the day. The taxi was more expensive than usual but as we had no other option we went with it. The travel agent had told us that the bus would be a cheaper and safer option at night but as all of us were tired by the long flight that we took the taxi still.
The city that we are staying is Valletta, Malta's capital city. It really is beautiful. There are these big beautiful cities with large domes and great decorations. The water surrounding the city shines with the lights from the town. Lynn kept pointing out things to me as we reached the hotel. The air is clean and cool considering that it is summer.
The hotel lobby looked spectacular, there were big white halls and furniture made out of wood and glass. There are so many long paintings. When we finally reached our room our bags and cases were already in. The room itself is really different than the lobby. It is more welcoming than the cold white halls. We have two rooms. Our parents' room have a bed a wardrobe and a dressing area and an attached bath and toilet. Lynn and my room have two beds and table and a closet and an attached bath and toilet. There is a "living room" with a long couch a television and a book shelf with a lot books already in it. In the corner we have a mini fridge. There also is this huge window that shows the city. It really is beautiful, the room and the view both. In fact the room is more like a suit.
Because all of us were so tired we went straight to bed.
...
"Laura! Wake up you have been sleeping for twelve hours!" Lynn shakes me from my slumber. She is already dressed in a tank top and shorts and is dangling her watch in my face. 2:05 pm it reads.
"Jet lag sis jet lag," I see as I get up rubbing my eyes.
After taking a long hot bath to ease up my muscles I went and got dressed in a knee-length summer dress.
"You looked really pretty," Lynn said as I was blow drying my hair.
"Thank you," I replied. She said the same thing yesterday as well, I thought and smiled.
"You don't look bad yourself," I told her as she raised her eye-brows at this.
"Fine you are the most exquisite little thing that I have looked upon. I am honored to praise you-"I was saying when she wheeled herself out of the room laughing and shaking her head.
I pulled my hair into a pony tail and put on my sneakers and back pack. When I went in the living roomy parents were already sitting there. They looked so much younger in their casual clothes and most of all they looked happy something that was very rare. When I looked at them laughing my eyed filled with tears because I know that soon their heart would be broken after they hear my news. I am not sure when but it will happen one day.
"Laura, how much longer?" my father called as I patted my eyes.
"Coming," I sad trying to look my voice steady.
"You look beautiful," he said when I came.
"Thank you," I hugged my father and we exited the hotel room.
We decided to take a walk to go eat lunch as it is too late for breakfast. I ordered an egg Benedict and some juice for me and Lynn to share while our parents ordered an avocado toast and coffee for themselves.
The food was a delicious, it partly maybe because we hadn't eaten anything for more than tweleve hours.
When we finished eating it was already four pm so we decided to walk around a bit. And oh- don't get me started on the streets, they were so pretty. All of them were made with bricks and it looked as though we are walking in an enchanted street due to the buildings and the architecture.
We decided to do a little shopping before heading back to the hotel. We had the day o ourselves because tomorrow the tour guide would be taking us to the tourist attraction.
After a little shopping we went dinner at this buffet overlooking the water front.
I chose to eat pasta and some pastries. Lynn ate some Chinese food. After desert Lynn and I sipped on some cranberry juice while our parents consumed some champagne.
We went totally out of our way today by staying up late to watch a movie in the hotel room. But we only had one rule for this trip and that is to have no rules.
I really hope that liked the update. As a person who has never visited Malta it was kinda difficult writing about it so I would love to hear reviews and theories.
