Bryce's POV.
I kept my head down as the laughes and rude comments were being thrown at me.
I hated this. I hated being the school nerd. I hated being picked on for being smart and school oriented. It's just not fair.
"Hey, Bryce." Zack, my arch nemesis smirked. He is the most popular and powerful guy at this school. He could turn the whole school against you in the snap of a finger and that's exactly what he did to me. I don't know what I did to make him hate me so much but I wish I hadn't.
"Leave me alone, Zack." I tried to push past him but failed.
He pushed me against the lockers and smacked my books out of my hand, laughes and walking away along with his posse of football players and cheerleaders.
I sighed and picked my books up off the ground and walked in my first period class but not before I noticed Mary at her locker, getting her book out.
My heart started doing flips. Mary was somewhat new here. She transferred here about a month ago and immediately the 'populars' took a liking to her.
She isn't anything like them though, she's really sweet and she doesn't bully or pick on people. That's why I liked her.
She was on the cheerleading team but she acts nothing like those mean, snobby, stuck up girls. She's humble. I don't know how she's able to hang out with them.
And on top of that, she was drop dead gorgeous. Her beautiful light brown skin glowed naturally and her greens eyes were to die for. And might I add, she looks amazing in her cheer outfit.
What would it take for someone like her to interested in someone like me?

It was lunch time and I sat in my usual spot by myself. I looked around the lunch room as I ate my lunched and prayed Zack wouldn't come over here and try to embarrass me in front of everyone.
In the midst of eating my food, I saw Mary with her lunch tray in her hands and looking around as if trying to find somewhere to sit.
Suddenly here eyes met mine and she smiled. I almost choked on my chicken nuggets and she started to walk towards me.
Okay be cool, Bryce. Just be cool. I told myself in my head.
Finally she reached me and sat herself down. "Hey, I'm Mary. You're Bryce, right?" She smiled at me.
I just starred at her. God she's even more beautiful up close.
I quickly snapped out of it and answered her, "Uh, y-yeah that's me. Nice to m-meet you." I mentally slapped myself for stuttering.
She giggled, "It's nice to meet you too. I hope it's okay if I sit here."
"S-sure, it's fine with me but I don't know if it's such a good idea if you want to be popular. If you haven't noticed, I'm the nerd around here." I said looking down.
It was true, no one likes to hang out with me because they'll get picked on.
"I don't care about all that, I want to talk to you so I will." She said as she started to eat her lunch.
"Besides." She paused and looked at me. "I think you're cute." She said placing her hand on my cheek and smiling sweetly at me.
Butterflies erupted in my tummy and my cheeks heated up. I looked down at my food and muttered a 'thank you' trying not to smile so big.
She giggled once again and we both continued eating.
