“Auntie?” She called out softly as she walked towards where she had just been. An imprint was in the chair that showed that someone had been sitting there but now no longer was. Reaching her hand down she felt the seat to find it was warm, “That’s strange… There’s no way she could move that fast.” A click sounded from her side followed by the loud sound of white noise on the TV causing her to jump and look at the screen, her heart beating rapidly in her chest.

The lights in the room flickered then turned off plunging her into darkness. She stilled her body and closed her eyes tightly willing the lights to turn on. A scream erupted from her when she felt someone’s fingers touching her. The hand that the fingers belonged to quickly closed around her mouth to silence her scream.

“Don’t make a noise…” A man’s voice whispered into her ear, “And open your eyes Dani.”

Slowly she did as told as the smallest light in the room flickered back on. Dull light was cast into both room, making the shadows it created look like twisted monsters reaching out to her with claws and dark intents.  Her eyes fell into the darkness of the kitchen to see a shadowed figure moving around that was the same shape and size as her aunt. It was slowly moving around the kitchen its feet making dragging noise as it didn’t bother to pick up its feet as it moved around.

The figure stepped out into the light and it was indeed her aunt. But something was wrong, even though it looked like her Dani had a feeling that it wasn’t really her. Her aunt looked around the room reaching out her hands and feeling around as she walked. Her eyes had gone dull and un-seeing.

“Do not make a noise.” The man whispered again, his warm breath tickling her ear, “I’m going to try and get us to the door without it noticing.” Slowly he moved his hand from her mouth and to her hand gripping it hard and tugging gently for her to follow.

Dani let herself be pulled by him, following him on auto pilot as her eyes remained on her aunt. She wanted to see if she was okay, if she needed help. The rational part of her kept telling her to do as she was told, that it wasn’t her aunt, but she didn’t listen. She turned her head to look at the man to see who he was but found the lighting to be too dark for her to make out his exact features.

Planting her feet firmly to the ground she stilled her body like a rock making him stumble to a halt with her, “What are you doing? We have to get out of here.” He hissed in a low voice.”

“I can’t just leave her, she’s my aunt.” She snapped at him, ripping her hand from his grasp.

“That is not your aunt Dani, that’s a monster.” He stepped close to her reaching for her hand again.

“She’s not a monster!” She shouted at him while taking a blind step back. She felt something touch her back and quickly turned to stop the fall of the lamp as it crashed to the floor. Her body stilled and she glanced at the man to see he had frozen in place and was staring at something in front of her.

Turning her head slowly her eyes met the dull glazed eyes of her aunt. She was standing right in front of Dani and was breathing heavily. The closeness sent waves of fear rippling through her as she stared into the un-seeing eyes. Holding her breath she slowly and silently took a step back from her.

The man reached out and lightly grabbed Dani’s elbow, “Don’t make a sound…” He whispered in a hushed tone. Her aunt’s head jerked quickly to look at where he was standing; it was like she had heard him.
