"Hey," Jered smiled at Tobi. "What's up?"

"Not much," she said, pointing to Artemis, who was staring at Mr. Io's pet rat, Merie. "There's a new student named Artemis."

"Cool," he replied, staring at him. Artemis turned around and met his eyes.

"Hush up, peeps!" Mr. Io called out, hopping up to his feet. He stood at the front of the room. His silky aquamarine robe matched his blue eyes and hair perfectly.

"Today we will be doing something exciting!" he continued, his proclamation mysterious. The other students were thrilled. When Mr. Io talked like that, things were unpredictable. "We will be dissecting a sheep's brain." Students oohed and ah-ed. "Any questions? Has anyone dissected anything before?" A few kids raised their hands. He picked one of the students.

"Hmmm... Jayden! What have you dissected?" he asked with a big smile.

"A worm!" the student answered deliriously. "My guys and I stabbed its guts out at recess before. It was so cool!"

"Ummmm... good to know? A little bit concerning, maybe..." Mr. Io laughed hesitantly. "Let's just get started! Everyone put your gloves on..."

"Excited?" said Tobi, snapping the rubber on her gloves. Jered and Valor nodded. Mr. Io split up the groups, which Tobi and Jered were in one, and Valor and Aspen in another. After each group got their brain, loud noises sprang up like weeds.

"Mine's squishy!" one student squealed.

"Gross!" another screamed. "I didn't sign up for this!"

"Oh God!" a girl screeched. She ran to the trash can and hurled inside it.

"Aura! Are you okay?" the teacher asked, running up to the girl and tripping along the way. Aura started belching, and a repulsing smell filled the room along with the smell of preserved brains. Mr. Io scanned the room. Everyone wrinkled their noses and covered their noses.

"Garrett! My bro!" Mr. Io said with his eyes lit up. "Please take Ms. Aura to the nurse's office please along with a trash can please." His repetitive use of 'please' probably meant he was HOPEFULLY in the slightest bit worried.

He's so cheerful it's kinda creepy... Valor remarked, inspecting him patting a few students on their heads.

Garrett nervously nodded and put an arm around Aura to help her walk while she continued to emit undigested substances from her mouth.

"Now then. Everyone put your gloves and safety glasses on!" Students took the boxes that were on the side of their table and put on their gloves. They then passed the boxes to their partner meanwhile they put on their glasses.

"Okay, class! Now, remember: DO NOT- I repeat, DO NOT touch your glasses once we begin the dissection," the teacher warned. "The first part that we will be dissecting are the two hemispheres. Cut right in the middle to separate the two parts."

"Do you want me to do it?" Aspen joked, glancing at Valor's confused face. "You probably think it's gross and all so lemme take care of the first step for you."

She glared at him. "Gimme that," she demanded, pointing at the scalpel. Aspen handed it to her. Valor immediately cut through the two halves and a foul odor wafted into her nose. She twitched a little but ignored the smell.

"Is everyone finished?" Mr. Io asked. Everyone nodded. "Good. Now, I want you to remove the translucent wrapping around the brain. The purpose of the wrapping is so that the brain is preserved."
