I strolled along, dry tears stuck to my cheeks like glue to a page.
I found the seat i had once called home in the far back corner of the bar.
Swiftly I found my way on top of the faded red leather barstool and signaled the bartender.

"Been a while since I've seen you round here." The mustached man said smirking.

I winced at a far too familiar voice.

"Well, now I'm back. Haven't been gone long enough for you to forget my usual, have I?" Giving him a sarcastic smile I nodded.

"There's no amount of time that could go by for me to forget you, Melanie." He replied reaching to the top of the counter to grab Evil Spirits Vodka.

He filled the miniature glass halfway and slid it to my corner.

My index finger and thumb gripped the glass as I whipped my head back In one swift motion. The alcohol burned my throat, but the sensation was beautiful.
Memories flashed in my head of times before I had met him, when this was what I lived off of.
His memory began to fade ever so slightly.

Yet again, I waved the man behind the bar down and asked for another.

"So, what's the story this time Mel?" He asked cleaning out a glass with an old dish rag.

"The same story different person, someone I need to forget and I'm doing it the only way I know how." I whipped down the next shot. The neon haze of the bar lights began to blur.

"I see, guess I'll Just leave this with you then." The man spoke pushing the full bottle towards my slightly drunken body.

I poured the liquid into the shot glass and stared it down. I raised the small cup and made a toast to myself.

"To forgetting Victor Fuentes and all the stupid things he's done." I muttered bringing the liquor to my lips.

I wiped away the residue on my face, with it some of my lipstick, and slammed the glass back down on the mahogany bar.

What have I done. She's gone and I'm never going to get her back.

I brought my knees to my chest and began to cry softly. My tears soaked the pillows beneath my head.

I was engulfed by the black nothingness of my bedroom. I had been locked in here for what seemed like forever.

My brother Mike walked in making light interrupt the ominous and soothing darkness of my bedroom.

"Vic, if you care about Melanie this much, why don't you go find her and apologize." Mike said sitting on the edge of my bed.

" I can't. She hates me Mike. I've screwed up big time and I don't think she'll take me back." I yelled with anger coursing through my veins.

"Why don't you try? Sitting here will do you absolutely no good. You want her so bad? Go. Get. Her." Mike spoke as he left leaving me once again in my darkness.

I wiped away the drying tears and lifted myself from the bed and brought myself down the stairs. I grabbed my jacket and as I ran out the door I heard Mike yell. "Go get her Vic!"

My world was blurred and the bottle neared empty.

"Mel, don't you think you should go home?" The bartender asked slightly concerned.

"If I can still remember his name then I'm not going home and currently the name rings clear as a bell." I spat leaning my head against the wooden textured walls of the bar.

I stared out the large windows at the front of the bar. A couple, illuminated by the lights of the street lamps, were walking by the shops and passed by the bar window. Their sheer and utter glee made me sick.

I turned to the bar and took another shot hoping to forget. Forget them, but mostly to forget him.

I then returned to my position of looking out the bar windows just in time to catch his brown hair racing down the street and into the bar.

Vic.

I could feel my heart burn and ache.

Then Anger and drunkenness took over my body. I strode over to the only guy sitting alone at the bar and kissed him. Right in front of Vic. Maybe he'll know how it feels now.

I didn't have time to take a car and the bar she use to live in wasn't far away.

I slung my jacket on to my back and took off running. The hazy air and bright lights surrounded me as I ran.

The bar was within viewing distance now.

As I came up on the bar I slowed a bit to open the door.

I walked in out of breath, the door bell jingling behind me.
My eyes frantically searched the bar.

I found her. Seeing Her slim figure and dark brown hair made my eyes glow.

The glow was almost immediately dimmed when I saw her stride a few chairs towards the front and grab a man by the collar and kiss him.

Tears filled the inside of my eyes, but I would not dare let them slip on to my cheeks here.

My shoulders slumped and I walked out the door with my head hanging low.

My heart was shattered.

Now I know exactly how she felt, and I guess I deserve this.

end.
