Chapter One {Sophie's POV}
"Sophie? You up there?"
"Yeah," I muttered.
I quickly combed my hair and put on whatever clothes I saw first in my closet. I ended up wearing white skinny jeans and a tribal print hi-low tank top. I pulled on my black Vans and went downstairs.
I really didn't want to go to school. Sure I had a lot of friends and I was head cheerleader, but today was not in my favor. I, unfortunately, was chosen to give the 'Welcome Back' speech this morning and I seriously didn't. Usually the principal gives it out, but I received a call from him saying that he was going to be out sick. Ugh.
I poured myself some cereal as my mum emerged from the living room and my twin brother, Jake, came down the stairs. "Hey," he greeted me darkly.
"Hello to you too," I said. Oh god. I started to get a headache. Anger started bubbling inside me.
"What's up with you!? Why are you so angry!?" I hated the fact that we were twins. In fact, twins that could feel each others feelings. At first, it was just fine; we helped each other out when we needed some love and attention. Now, when ever he or I am in a bad mood, we could feel it. I could tell he was angry. Something was up.
"Nothing,"
"Nothing? Spill the beans Jake."
"I SAID NOTHING!"
I winced in pain as I started to feel his hatred. I understood. Cassie, his girlfriend, had dumped him while making out with Nate, his ex-best friend. I started to have sympathy for him, but I was still in pain.
"Sorry," he said, sobering up. He was drunk too. Great. Way to start the first day of school.
"Eh hem,"
Mom stepped forward and hugged the two of us. She knew sometimes things got like this. Sometimes our argument wasn't even worth it. It's not like we wanted to be angry when the other was. It took control, patience, and of course, love. "Why don't you drive Jake to school? I'm sure he'd appreciate it."
We kissed her on the cheek then headed outside. I climbed in to the drivers seat of my black Hummer and waited for Jake to come out of the house. He finally came, and sauntered his way to the passengers seat.
Once we arrived, I parked my car on the back of the school, next to the football field and got out. I went to the other side, where Jake sat staring straight at me.
"Come on,"
"No,"
"Come on Jake, you have to come out."
I dragged him out and hugged him. I needed him to relax. I didn't want to start to rage in the middle of my speech. After a couple of moments we separated, Jake going to his building and I going to meet up with my best friend, Bi, and my boyfriend Mike.
"Hey there girly, what's up?" Bi was always first to greet me.
"I feel like shit," I replied.
"Aw, is Sophie-wophie nervous for her wittle speech?" Mike always had a way to tease me. I was never really nervous about anything. But when it came to things like this, I had every reason to be nervous.
I answered him by tackling him to the ground. I got up a brushed off some dirt in my hair. "No Mike. I feel like shit because I want to."
He got off the ground and hugged me from behind. "You know I didn't mean it," he whispered in my ear.
I got out of his grip and we continued walking towards our building. I got my stuff out of my locker when a bright white light practically blinded the whole hallway.
I heard some screams and some calls for my name. What had just happened? Quickly enough, I blacked out.
