“I told you, I'm a boy!” The voice came from the boys bathroom. I walked in. There on the dirty floor was a person with long blue hair. The black dress and cute shoes they wore were bunched and scuffed. Probably to do with the three teens holding them down. I only spared them a glance.
I walked to the urinal. All was quiet in the corner as I relieved myself. I washed my hands. Turning I leaned my hip against the sink. With a quick flip of my wrist the paper towel swooshed into the basket. I folded my arms across my chest.
“Well now, something here doesn’t seem quite right.” I placed one long thin finger to my chin. “Oh yeah!” I smiled brightly as I held my finger up like I had a brilliant idea. “I hate rapists.” With that my foot kicked out knocking the guy who was between the blue hair persons legs onto his chubby ass.
Shoving off of the sink I met another one above the prone body. My fist slammed into his face breaking his nose. Blood sprayed everywhere as he fell back against the wall holding his face.
“Sorry about that.” I grinned down at the person I was rescuing. They just looked stunned. Arms were still above their head even though no one was hiding them any longer. I yanked the last attacker up by his little man bun. Punched him a few times in the face while kicking the first guy in his naked dick. I threw the last one on top of him.
“Run, before I get really pissed off.” I told them in a sickly sweet tone. They obeyed. I reached a hand down to the person on the floor. They took it. I pulled them to their feet.
“You ok?” I asked. I backed away to give them space. I wetted a paper towel and helped them clean up a bit.
“Yeah, thanks.” They said. I titled my head at them. They were pretty cute.
“Names Karma.” I said holding out my hand.
“For real or is that just like your superhero name?” They asked. “Like you go around dishing out Karma.” They blushed.
“Nope, for real.” I said. “Karma Akabane, at your service. “ I bowed a little. They chuckled.
“Nagisa Shiota.” They said reaching for my hand we shook. “I really am a boy.” He said.
“Then why do you dress like that?” I asked curious. We stepped out of the bathroom into the woods around us.
“My mother always wanted a girl. She got me. So when I’m home she makes me dress like this.” He said not looking at me. We were at the campgrounds.
“That's really messed up.” I was shocked. People were really that demented. I sighed hell what did I care, I loved causing pain.
“Look we are in lot 420.” I said pointing up the hill.
“Really?” Nagisa looked at me oddly. “We are in 423.” He said. I laughed.
“How about I walk you home?” I asked. He grinned.
“Thanks.”
The week of camping went by better than I thought it would when my dad demanded I go with him. I was sure it was mostly in part to Nagisa. He was a really interesting guy. One moment he would just be there chilling watching the stream. The next proof gone. The second I turned my head to look for him, he would be in my face with some rock or flower he discovered. No one got through my defenses like this kid did.
We exchanged phone numbers by the end of the week. The rest of the summer we texted each other, a lot. It wasn't until a week before school started that he told me he had to move. His mother got a new job, in my town. Of course he didn’t know where I lived.
“That's great. What school will you be going to?” I asked. There was three high schools he could chose. The response came a moment later. I laughed with delight.
“Nagisa, that's MY high school!” I told him. It was only then that I let him know he would be moving to my town. He gave me his new address. I rode my bike over there that afternoon. They wouldn't be here until Saturday. He told me.
The house was vacant and had been for some time. It was haunted. Or so everyone says. I grinned, it was half a mile from my house. I didn’t have many friends. Mostly because I didn’t want them, but also due to the fact I like hurting others. Nagisa was different. I had no desire to hurt him. I just wanted to… my brain froze.
“I want to kiss him.” I whispered to the empty air around me. I had never really thought about sex or what I was attracted to, but now there it was, Nagisa. I laughed to myself as I pushed off with my foot to start peddling away. I wasn’t sure what his sexuality was. For now I would protect him. I was patient.
I arrived home, to an empty house. My parents worked out of town aa lot. My house was the second largest in town. The only one larger was the one I could see from my bedroom window. Asano's. He better not touch Nagisa. I crushed the milk carton at the thought sending a white liquid spray all over me. I groaned and began to clean it up.
What was this feeling? Asano and I have had a long standing rivalry, but I never wanted to kill him more than the thought of him any where near my Nagisa. Jealousy. The word echoed in my head. I stopped cleaning to sit back on my heels. I don’t get jealous. I thought. I get even. I smiled cruelly at the thought. That blue haired vixen was mine and no one was going to touch him. I vowed as I finished up cleaning.
That night I decided to FaceTime him. It had been awhile since I saw his face. He answered quickly. “Karma, hey!” he cried, blue eyes shining a huge smile on those precious lips.
“Hey Nagisa.” I said as casually as I could. We talked about weather and school for a bit. I got him to tell me that they were going to drive during the night on Friday. He would be here by eight Saturday morning. I grinned in just two days I would see him in the flesh.
“Question time!” I smirked as he looked startled. “What are you into?”
“Uh like hobbies?” he was stalling, so cute.
“No like dating, guys, girls, tall, short what?” I asked.
“Are you trying to set me up with your friends?”
“One, I don’t have friends. Two I am curious since I have decided to protect you. I need to know what you like so I don’t  inadvertently cock block you.” I said faking the casualness of the conversation. Just freaking tell me what you like Nagisa! I wanted to scream.
“I don’t need you protecting me.” He grumbled.
“You will until you get your bearings in a new school. So what is it?” I asked again leaning forward to stare at him intently. I saw him blush.
“I, uh, well I like short girls.” He said. I felt my chest cave in, pain erupted throughout it. I almost missed his growing blush. “and taller guys.” He added softly. What?! Did he just say….
“See, I’m bisexual, Karma. I think it may have to do with my mom cross dressing me, or you know, guys always hitting on me.” He shrugged his thin shoulders.
“Or you could just like what you like.” I said. He looked up at the camera, tears glistening in those azure eyes.
“You're not going to tell me what you like are you?” he asked. I laughed leaning back.
“Look at that, you know me so well.” I teased. In my head I was screaming ‘I like you, you idiot!’ but I couldn’t tell him, not yet. I smiled and changed topics. By the time we ended the call two hours later, he was a laughing happy little mess. I went to bed.
The next night I made him text me when he left his house. The movers loaded everything up and left around noon. His mom had to finish her last shift and didn’t get home until after five. They ate on the road. He texted me at six thirty saying he was on his way. My heart tapped danced in my chest.
I stayed awake most of the night with my phone on my chest. I told him to text whenever he wanted. I said I wanted updates as to where he was. At six he told me they were a little ahead of schedule so they were stopping for a rest stop. They had decided not to eat until they reached town. He asked me for good places. I gave him a few but told him he should check on the house first. He texted back that his mom planned to do just that.
At seven I hurried out to the local bagel shop. I got four with cream cheese. I got three coffees asking them to load up a bag with creamers and sugar since I didn’t know how he liked it. Then I went to the bakery and got four chocolate chocolate chip muffins, my fave. I also got four cranberry orange, my second choice. I drove to their house. I waited fifteen minutes before I got the text saying they were turning onto the road. I looked up. A small Toyota Prius powered blue, just turned the corner. I had the food out on the hood of my truck. He waved as they pulled into the driveway.
Oh my god! I screamed in my head when I saw him climb out. He was wearing a pink bunny footed onesie. “Well aren’t you just adorable?” I teased pulling on one of the ears. He slapped my hand away. I laughed.
“Don’t be a dick.” He whispered.
“Would a dick bring you food?” I asked. I handed him a cup of coffee, offering one to his rather normal looking mother. To bad you couldn’t tell psycho just by looking at someone. I mean I was a classic example of that. I laughed as they both reached for the sugar packets.
“Shiota who is this?” his mother asked after thanking me for the coffee. We never met during the camping trip.
“Oh, mom this is Karma Akabane. My friend form camp.”
“Akabane?” she questioned and then asked me if I was related to my father. I told her I was his son.
“Well that’s great. I will be working for your father starting Monday.” She said.
“Good luck" I offered her. Just then the moving truck showed up. “How about I take Nagisa for a tour of the town. That way he isn't in the way with all the moving?” she thanked me taking a bagel and rushing to meet the movers.
“Can I take this off first?” he asked unzipping the bunny suit. He had a white t shirt and blue shorts on underneath. Both looked feminine on his small frame.
“Ah, but you looked so cozy in that.” I joked. I tossed him a muffin as I climbed back behind the wheel. He tossed the bunny suit in the mailbox and climbed in beside me.
“Where's your place?” he asked. I chuckled.
“Don't get ahead of the tour little man.” I teased. I drove him around showing him places I liked to hang out in. I showed him the school and Asano's house. “That's the principle. Don’t get me started on his son. Hot, but the biggest jerk you will ever meet.” I said.
“Bigger than you, hmm that’s saying something.” He joked. I smacked his arm. He yelped rubbing it.
“What? Want me to kiss it and make it all better?” I asked. His faced flamed as red as my hair. I laughed as I pulled into my drive.
“Wow, this place is huge. Who lives here?” he asked. I shut the car off.
“I do.” I said getting out. I took him inside.
