Mom walked into my room. "Honey, what do you want for dinner?" she asked. I just shrugged. With barely a variety of anything to eat, I can never think of what I want. "Well I was going to order some vegan tacos if you want any." I just nodded my head.
I decided to start working on the Greatest Sketch Ever (G.S.E), but then OF COURSE it was the perfect time to stop me before I started sketching with a freaking doorbell. I automatically went downstairs when I heard the door shut.
"Ooh. Smells delicious," mom said happily. I squinted at her with my mouth half open. "Okay...I've never heard of a vegan taco with a good smell when you can barely smell anything," I said, still squinting.
After dinner, I went back upstairs to work on the sketch. I didn't know what to draw, so I called Laurie. She's always got something good on her mind. Right when I called she answered right after I pressed the button.
"Hey!" she said. "Hi, Laurie. I just wanted to ask a question," I replied. She looked at me funny. "What about...?" I told her I needed an idea of what to draw for the G.S.E.
When I said that she started fiddling with the pigtail on the back of her head. "Hmm...well what do you want to be?" I thought for a second. "Maybe a person standing next to an animal. Like for a book cover and they have expression, like scared or happy or something," I said.
She thought for longer than I did. "What about a bear clawing Lucy Anderson's eyes out?" I asked how the heck that would be something good for the G.S.E.
Then I heard Laurie's mom calling her from the somewhere in her house. "Listen Sam, can we talk about this at school?" It took a little for me to respond. "Okay, I guess that's fine. Bye."
"Bye." I was just left there to think of something good to draw. I knew I was absolutely not going to ask my mom. She'd think of something cheesy, or just drawing a vegetable.
