This was a difficult adventure, one that I wasn't prepared for. A story filled with unexpected turns and events, pain, and surprises. It started on a seemingly ordinary day, just like any other.

I was sitting in line with my best friend Alexis, chatting and waiting for our turn in the gym. The gym teacher had taken most of the students inside the gym at a time, telling the rest to stand outside. Alexis and I were in a very heated argument about hamsters, both of us refusing to back down. Alexis started to flail her arms angrily, "I told you already! There is no way on earth a hamster would survive on the moon!" I rolled my eyes, "Of course not on earth! It would be on the moon!" She groaned and took a step backward, bumping into someone standing behind her. "Oh! Sorry, I wasn't paying attention." She stepped back towards me, giving the person she bumped into some space. The boy raised his hand, shielding his face from sight. He spoke, his voice a whisper. "It's nothing, Alexis. I can handle a light shove."

The gym teacher called the next group into the gym and we all started to walk forwards. I grabbed Alexis' arm, stopping her. I started to ask about the boy, "Do you know him? How'd he know your name?" She paused, thinking over it. "I'm not sure, I've never seen him before." She looked towards the boy, who was walking ahead of us. He looked familiar somehow, but I couldn't remember why. He had lowered his hand by now and was blending in with our other classmates.

I started to push past them, making my way towards him. My eyes stayed glued on his dark brown hair and gray jacket, I was so focused that I faintly heard Alexis calling for me from across the sea of other kids. We were in the gym by now and the line was dissipating. I found him standing by the bleachers, staring blankly at the wall. I grabbed his shoulder, ready to introduce myself. "Hi," I chirped excitedly, "My name is Kristy! Nice to meet you, what's your name?" His head whipped around, revealing familiar light green eyes. I flinched and pulled my hand back. Alexis ran up beside me, "Why'd you run off? Oh! Who's this guy- Wait... What's wrong Kristy?" I held my mouth and my voice began to tremble. "Max, what are you doing here?"

Max scoffed, "I'm here to take back what I've earned." He glanced at Alexis and held out his hand. In his palm was a black leather strap decorated with mystical-looking beads, a bracelet. She hesitated, confused at first. "Why are you giving me this," She nodded towards me, "Why not her?" I watched Max throw his head back, laughing. He wiped his eyes with his other hand, the other still outstretched. "This isn't for her," He said, "I want you to take it." She slowly grabbed the bracelet and began to turn it over in her hands, "One last question." She said, looking up into Max's eyes. "How do you know me?" Max scoffed, "I know more about you, than you would be comfortable with." I saw his eyes flash red momentarily, though it was probably my imagination. I glanced at Alexis to see if she noticed, but I doubt she did. She was focused on putting on the bracelet. Something felt off about it though, almost instinctively I reached towards her, "Wait, Alexis!"

The bracelet began to glow, blinding everyone nearby. I shielded my eyes with my arm and waited for the light to dim. Once I could open my eyes, Max and I stood alone. I looked around in surprise, "Where is everyone?!" I glanced down where Alexis had been standing before. I turned to Max, "Where is she?! What did you do?! Give her back!"

He held up his hand and gestured to his bracelet, matching the one he gave Alexis. "She's right here." He said calmly, lowering his arm again. "What the heck is that supposed to mean?" I snapped back at him. He ignored me and began to walk towards the exit door to the gym. I grabbed his arm. "Give her back," I commanded him, " Or else." He chuckled and grabbed my hand, tugging me closer to him. "Or else, cutie? You're gonna fight me?" I growled and pushed him away, "I'll do something much worse. Also, don't call me 'cutie'! We aren't together anymore." He scoffed and turned back to the door. "Whatever." He mumbled under his breath. I ran in front of him, blocking his path. "Hey!" I yelled, "You still need to give Alexis back!" He rolled his eyes, "Fine. Do you want her? You can have her." He began to flick through the beads of his bracelet until he came across a deep red one with a serpent symbol. He pulled it off and held out his hand for me. I reached out to grab it, then he dropped it. It fell onto the gym's floor, releasing a grey smoke. I stepped away and ran out of the gym into the hallway, Max's laughter echoing through the gym behind me. I sprinted down the hallway, calling out for her. "Alexis," I yelled as loud as I could, "Where are you?" I turned around and ran back to the gym, but it was completely empty.
