After a long day of high school, Colby decided to take a shortcut through the forest to get home. It was only a 5-minute difference but after the day he just had, every minute counts. After about 10 minutes of walking, he saw something strange, an undeveloped polaroid with black lettering on it. At first, Colby was just going to ignore it, thinking someone just dropped it and didn't know about it, but then it seemed like the polaroid was calling out to him, almost begging him to pick it up. So, Colby took that calling and picked up the picture. He started to read the black lettering aloud, "10-7-8-9-2 HELP." He was curious and creeped out by the words coming out of his mouth. His first instinct was to look around to see if this was just a stupid prank a jock was playing on him, or maybe one of his friends did it, but Colby knew that wasn't the case when the polaroid started to develop. as the ink started to come in, he saw a girl around his age, tied up to a chair with her head down. Colby was terrified, he looked around again and started to call out, "GUYS, THIS ISNT FUNNY ANYMORE! YOU ALREADY GOT ME" but no replies. A million thoughts started to swarm through his head. Should he go to the police? What if they suspect something? Parents, definite no. Colby held his head in frustration. he decided to go to the police, the most rational thing to do, plus he wanted to get out of the woods before something else popped out of the ordinary.
Running home, his thoughts took over once again... what happened to this girl, and if she was alright. Colby thought of every possible thing that could've happened, some things he didn't even want to think about at all. When he finally arrived home he noticed no cars in the driveway. "good, no need to explain then" he thought. He turned the doorknob to get in when another polaroid fell out. "What the hell..." he thought to himself as he was reaching for the polaroid. He looked at it side to side from the one he found in the woods, almost like someone knew he was going to find the first one. Colby looked around, and then shut and locked his door.
CHAPTER TWO
Colby sat on his couch, his palm covering his mouth, trying to think of an excuse, a reason this could all be just a joke. "Maybe the jocks are just playing another prank on me..." he thought. But they would get in serious trouble if their principle found out. He started to get a headache from all the thoughts overflowing his head. "Maybe I should just go take a shower and come back..." He said, thinking out loud. He went upstairs and started to run the bath water.
A couple minutes into the shower, he heard the door open. "Oh crap, mom." he thought. Rapidly, he stopped the shower, wrapped a towel around himself and ran downstairs. But, it was already too late, his mom was looking at the polaroid's in full shock. "what is-" She said
"Mom, I can explain.." Colby said trying to think of a story that didn't make him look absolutely insane. "why do you have a picture of this young lady tied up!" she shouted but still shocked. "mom let me explain!" Colby said but still astounded by the words coming out of his own mouth, he didn't have a story, he cant even explain how he got them in the first place. " Colby, this is... I cant even.... why do you have these, AND THE TRUTH." she said sternly. Colby found it hard to swallow because he didn't know the truth, that's what he was trying to find out! "It- it was just a prank from the football guys... at school" he tried to shrug off. "A prank?" she said suspiciously. "Yeah, they talked to me today and told me it was just like a senior prank." he said, sweating so hard hoping she believes it. "honey.." she said stepping closer, "I know its been hard with your dad being gone.." She started stepping closer and closer, "But you have to realize its going to be okay..." She looked down to see he was still in a towel. " y-you go put some clothes on. I'm going to make dinner." She said walking away but still having eyes on her son. In full terror, Colby ran upstairs and locked his bedroom door. "WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?!?!" Colby thought in his head. Why was his mom acting... weird, and the polaroid's. Colby started getting another headache that he wished would go away... but little did he know this was just the beginning of the story
