"Look outside."
You spin around towards the voice dangerously quickly, as it's a voice you know all too well. The voice of a man you'd hoped to leave in your past, but here he is, in the present. Just like he said he would be.
You turn around and come face to face with the boarded window, the only thing visible through the small gaps was the glimmer from the streetlights. But you knew he was there. You know Shoto's voice.
You take a cautious step closer to the window, maybe you'll be able to see him if you take a closer look-
Before you could even take a step you jump back from surprise as a beam of fire burns through the wooden planks and glass of the window. The heat rushed over you as you barely jumped out of the way in time. Shoto climbed into your room through the hole he had created. "Damn, I missed~"
"Shoto?" You ask, afraid.
"Y/n!" You hear him say before he immediately attached himself to you, knocking both of you to the ground and hugging you so tight you had trouble breathing. "Y/n you're actually here!!"
Shoto sat up and placed you in his lap. He wrapped his arms around your lower back and buried his face in your shoulder. "Y/n, I knew you wouldn't leave me behind!! You sent me that message so I could track your phone and come find you, right!! You'd never leave me alone." He said warmly, sounding like an excited toddler.
"Shoto, I-" you began, trying to tell him that's not what you intended at all, and that he shouldn't be here, not with his enemy. But he interrupted you before you even got the chance to explain.
"You don't have to say anything! I'm sorry I ever doubted you, I'd follow you to the ends of the earth, whether you're a hero or a villain." He says while nuzzling into you as you sat there uncomfortably.
"But I..." you began, but Shoto pulled his face out of your neck and stared into your eyes.
"I said, don't say anything. Do you know what you put me through? Do you even care?" He asks, his face seemingly apathetic. "It doesn't matter if you care or not, I found you, we can be happy again."
You try your hardest to meet his gaze with an equally intense look, but you look more like an emotional mess. Which you are, but Shoto doesn't need to know that. "But... but you're a hero."
Shoto smiles a warm and cute smile and runs a hand through your hair. "Don't be silly Y/n, I'm whatever you are. That's why I ran away."
"Ran away?" Your question.
"All heroes have ever done for me is hurt me, and push me until I break. Living as a hero means trying to meet an impossible standard, and even as a student, you are expected to meet those standards, to be inhumanly perfect. Then I find a person who's the exact opposite. She cares for me and accepts me the way I am. I don't have to change myself or to try meet any standards. She understands that I'm human and imperfect and still loves me. And now, she's a villain. It's so simple; if all heroes do is hurt me then it makes sense a villain would have the opposite effect. All I needed was a little wake-up call, and it was presented to me by my angel."
"You shouldn't do something like that Shoto, not for me. Go back, you've worked so hard to be a hero. Forget about me." You say, desperately. Choosing to leave the life you knew to join the league of villains was hard enough for you, and you choose it on your own. "You're throwing away your life to follow me to villainy. Don't do that for me. Live a heroic life."
Shoto held your hands and gave you a love-struck smile, "You are my life."
You feel a small blush creep onto your cheeks, but will it away. This was no time for blushing!! You had to stop the man you love from making the worst decision of his life. Suddenly you feel the grip on your hands tighten and look up to see tears streaming down Shoto's cheeks. He looked furious.
"Y/n, I know you think I'm making a stupid decision, but I've thought about it. I thought about it so much it drove me crazy. I can't live without you. I wouldn't even make it a month without you. This is your fault Y/n, it's all your fault. So take responsibility for your actions and let me join you. It's your consequence for breaking me as you did." He says.
You stare at his crying face and pained expression in horror. It was times like these you couldn't help but wonder how much better everyone else's life would be if you weren't born, especially Shoto's. You can't just push him away after he came crawling back to you like this.
"Are you sure that's what you want?" You ask in a quiet voice, your own eyes brimming with tears.
"More than anything." Shoto says as he hugs you again, tighter this time, crying into your shoulder. You wrap your arms around him and lean onto him weakly.
What have you done?
