After getting pizza from a place called Famous Ray's, which was amazing, Peter and Clint walked aimlessly around Times Square as they ate. Peter was staring up at the buildings and screens as they walked. It was so different from London. He could see the place where the big ball dropped every New Year's that was such a big deal here.Clint's phone rang and Peter looked over in mild interest as Clint answered. Clint looked slightly bored as he answered with a mouth full of pizza, "'ello?" His eyes sparked full of energy and mischief as he listened to whoever was on the other end. Peter looked at him in mild confusion before focusing on the buildings again, half paying attention to Clint's call.
"He's fine. We just had a quick snack," Clint said in a way that would make people suspicious.
Peter could hear, "Clint I swear to god if Peter is-," before it quickly cut off as Clint hung up.He turned his mischievous eyes to Peter and gave him a devious smirk. Peter narrowed his eyes at the spy in question.
"Wanna have some fun?" Clint asked before he started to speed walk away. Peter panicked for a second as he followed behind Clint.
"It depends what the american definition of fun is," Peter shrugged in response with a smile on his face.Clint gave him a smile, "whatta say to a good ol' game of hide and seek?" he asked. Peter furrowed his brows.
"What?" he asked with a laugh.
"Ok look. We're gonna ditch our phones right? Soon everyone is gonna be trying to hunt us down, and we're going to do our best to avoid them. So basically, hide and seek in all of New York. I would try and do the entire US, but planes are easy to track," Clint said with a wave of his hand. Peter looked at him in amazement for a second, before he shook his head with a smile. Figuring he'd just have to get used to Clint and his strange ideas of having fun.He matched Clint's smirk and gave a nod. Clint pupped his fist.
"Yes! No one else would have agreed to something like this. Peter, you are now my favorite," Clint said as he clapped a hand on Peter's back. Peter gave him a smile as they walked.
"I don't think Nat would like that," Peter said snidely. Clint shushed him.
"What she doesn't know won't hurt her," Clint whispered.
"But Nat finds out everything. I've only known her for less than 24 hours and I can see that," Peter said with a laugh.
"That's true," Clint said thoughtfully. He must've decided Nat's wrath wasn't worth it cause the next thing he said was, "Peter, you are now my SECOND favorite.""Alright lets go," Clint said before he broke into a run. Peter quickly followed behind him. They wound their way back towards the parked car. Weaving between pedestrians, avoiding cars, and sometimes sprinting at full speed.
They reached the parking garage and quickly ran up a flight of stars before running out and finding the car. Clint threw in his phone before gesturing for Peter to do so as well. Clint popped the trunk and pulled out a backpack before closing it and locking the car again.
They exited the parking garage and resumed walking down the street, aiming for a subway station he could see up ahead.
"First, some ground rules. I don't want you getting us caught, plus this is a great chance to teach you spy skills. First thing, always walk when you're on the run. Less suspicious, you blend in with crowds better. Also, don't act suspicious. Things like looking over your shoulder are a no no. Brings attention to yourself. Act as normal as you possibly can. Do things like breathing exercises to minimize panic and to remain calm," Clint told him as he opened up his backpack."We have to avoid cameras when we can. Tony has face recognition technology and can access anything he wants. We'll have to donne disguises later, but there's no time for that right now. We need to focus on getting away quickly, we're still too close to the tower. Since it's sunny, sunglasses and hats are passible," Clint told him as he put a hat on before shoving a pair of sunglasses and a hat on Peter's face.
