The Dorm Room

On the door, there was a short list of people who would be in the room with me. Elysia Colson, Sarabelle Kingsley, Kasey Rose, Adalyne Taylor. These are the people I will be living with for at least the next quarter.

I turned the key and opened the room. Loft beds were the first thing to catch my eye. Loft beds with desks underneath them with wardrobes to the left of each one.

"Dad, what if they don't like me?" I asked, panicking at the thought of having to talk to this many unfamiliar people in one day.

"Oh come on! Of course they will!"

"I certainly do." said a girl from the doorway. I yelped, not previously knowing she was there. "My name's Sarabelle, but you can call me Sara for short."

"Well hello there, Sara for short. Are your parents coming to help you move in?" Dad asked, chuckling.

I could feel myself sinking into the wall opposite the doorway. Then I was sitting on the bed in the far corner, hoping it would be far enough away that Sara wouldn't ask any further questions.

To no prevail, she approached me. The red hair must've given me away. I should've worn a beanie.

Upon closer inspection, Sara's really pretty. Not pretty enough that I would want to talk to her, but pretty enough that it should be acknowledged.  Long, brown, silky hair and piercing baby blue eyes. She had the typical freshman fall look about her with a lavender knitted sweater and some grey skinny jeans. "What's your name?" she asked me.

"Kasey." I said, seriously not wanting to talk.

"Okay, Kasey, I'll be back. I have to go get my boxes."

"Okay." I said, Sara left the door open behind her when she walked back out of the room.

"Kase," Dad said, "First of all, I think you just found your first friend. You should talk to her some more. Second of all, we should go get a bin and then make our way to your car so we can get all of your stuff up here! Then you'll officially be my little college student!"

"I don't even get why I have to be here, Dad! We live barely half an hour away from here! I could just drive!" I complained, moaning and groaning.

"Come on, Kasey." he said, walking down the hall towards the elevator already. When I followed him, a girl stopped me halfway down the hall. Apparently she saw me walk out of the room and already knew she was in there.

"Hey, " the girl said, waving, still not prompting me to stop. I kept walking. The girl stepped in front of me. "Hey! My name's Adalyne! We're in the same room! Can I help you with your boxes? I've got movers coming to move me in later."

Oh my gods. Please tell me she's lying. Please tell me I don't actually have to room with her. She's too nice. And too rich. And too mentally stable. Probably an upperclassman though. That means she knows what's up. Right? "Oh, yeah, uh, hey, no I think we'll be fine. We're just gonna grab a bin, there isn't too much stuff for me to bring up." I said, stuttering over my words. Are all of my roomates going to be this pretty? I mean, I get it, I'm gay, I like pretty girls, but I also hate talking.

"Oh, well, I'll see you later I guess! I can't wait to get to know you!" she said, with a cheerful smile painted across her face. Her freckled face. Brunette, and brown eyes. But not as thin as the typical token female. Beautiful.

I can't wait to put up curtains around my section of the room, but also have places to look at my beautiful roommates as well. Tonight is going to be a living hell.

Are they going to make fun of my purple decor? EVERYTHING I bought for dorm life is purple, my sheets, my comforter, my notebooks, my space rug, my beanbag chair. It's all in different shades of purple, but it's still all purple. Yes, I like purple.
